In Scotland I recently saw a news item in which President Obama was speaking. I was absolutely dismayed to see how ill he looks. Does anyone else think the same?

The stress that job has takes its toll on everyone. I think both the Presidents Bush came out looking much older and tired. It's an awesome responsibility I'm sure. There is a great book written years ago during Nixon's years called The Imperial Presidency that explains the job and the impact on them.

While that's true, I think that most people tend to age a lot in eight years. Take a look at anyone in an eight year period of their lives and you'll see a marked difference.

The president was 45 when he was sworn in and is now 53. Go find some photos of yourself at these ages and you notice a big difference. This is also a period where many people start to get grey hair.

The POTUS has the best health care available. He has a personal physician available 24/7 and has regular checkups. I wouldn't worry too much about him.

This video shows how much younger this president looked at the time, along with the former presidents seated in front and listening.

It's an unimaginable burden to carry this job, but that is why the presidents ask God Almighty for help, to unify us in our worst hours and days:

His wife on the other hand seems to have not aged. Guess FLOTUS is a less stressful job.

Really? Let's hear what First Lady Jackie Kennedy said about her witnessing of a national crisis before the crisis of all presidential crises occurred to them personally:

You forgot he just got off the campaign trail a little over a month ago. 8 weeks on the rubber chicken circuit trail will drain anyone.

After 17 days of Hawaii ,he'll be a new man.

Could you refrain from criticizing the current President, so we can continue to see the history in the video links I posted and which have many others linked beside them on youtube? I was only in 3rd grade when JFK was killed, and so the review of old news tapes and discussion here is valuable to me and others.

Yes and I forgot about what Eleanor Roosevelt experienced during WW11 and death of FDR. What Bess Truman experienced after HST ok'd the use of nuclear weapons on Japan. What Laura Bush must have felt after 9/11 and Hillary Clinton experienced post Lewinsky.

My mention of Michelle Obama was merely based on recent photos, but maybe they have been edited.

The heading on your post is "president Obama" .....how can you not expect criticism?

The original poster's (annaconnor) heading indicates the President because his aging in office gets discussed. I added video links to look at some of the causes of this faster aging process of all presidents. Discussion won't happen if the thread is shut down or simply removed by the moderators!

The First Ladies all have great hair and makeup artists, and some are natural beauties to start with. And some have had minor plastic surgeries like eyelid lifting, and Betty Ford had a full (highly publicized) facelift that helped her self-image (after her battle with substance abuse, I believe).

President Obama recently visited Walter Reed Hospital in DC for a persistent sore throat which was diagnosed as acid reflux. He was given medicine and returned home and to work.

Most of the TV pundits thought the president looked fired up and ready to go at last Friday's press conference talking about all the good things going on in the country right now.
