Why was the thread "The death of common sense" closed? I thought the conversation was getting quite interesting...especially since I started it!
I thought several of the comments were off the subject and a few of the respondents clearly "didn't get it" but I'm not quite sure why it was closed down.
(Several of the respondents made comments on the controlling factor of the Morse family...many of which were positive including mine. I hope that wasn't the reason.)
Maybe the administrator can clear that up?

I think we were getting too heated and too intense. I don't know. I am often surprised as to why threads are shut down or not shut down. I think it depends on the moderator on duty.

I think the thread was getting too personal. It would have quickly deteriorated into the standard move if you don't like it.
BTW, Gracie, few actually knew how much the Morses controlled TV until after they had moved here. There are folks here that still think this is a gated community and the town squares are private property. Some things you just don't know until you've been here awhile.

Moderators might not always be right but they are always moderators.
What irks me more than a moderator closing a thread is some member taking umbrage demanding the thread be closed. If that posters comments cause a moderator to act rather than the moderator's own judgment or list of rules then I take umbrage regarding that decision.
It is simple you don't like the conversation and are annoyed than don't click on that thread.
I also don't like a poster who takes it upon him/herself to self- determine if enough has been said regarding a topic and asks that the thread be closed . Let the thread die a natural death when folks get tired of the topic they will stop and the thread will go away.

Thank you Rubicon - couldn't agree more. Guess there are those that know better than the rest of us!

They are treated that way for politics....remember when the Gov was at Sumter Landing and folks of a Democratic persuasion were booted from the area?

completely agree.....
I have had a few topics closed because some feel I don't see the Morse family in the same light as they do..

THAT is one good reason to get the information OUT there so we don't have to listen to, "I'm not in Kansas anymore" so much.
And that is the reason that I like everyone to know that the politics are not like those in Miami....so they don't get all mad and sad once they move here.

It was closed because of the negative comments about pickles.

And the TOTV Mods/Admin had just what to do with giving demonstrators their own area in which to perform?

I really do not think anyone checked registration cards. I do believe it might have been the protest signs !!!
