I am moving to TV in Feb. 2015. Do most folks there buy gas or electric golf carts? Where is a good place to buy a used golf cart and what should a reliable one cost? Do I need air conditioning, side panels? - what extras should I get?

Thank you!

For used, Village Discount Golf Carts; they take used Yamaha's and strip them down and then rebuild them just like new.

For new, Carts & Clubs in Ocala.

No, I don't work for either one; just researched and visited every place close to and in The Villages; these two places have the most bang for the buck, IMHO.

I haven't bought my cart yet but have read good things about Grandpa and Grandma's carts. They rent carts but also sell used carts. They are on my list when I'm ready to buy.

Only you can answer that question? I would think lot depends where you live, how much you want to spend, and how far you intend to drive it. If your close to everything you plan to go to, then electric might work. If you at the extreme north or south end and plan on using the cart all over the villages then gas might be better. if you are hooked on the green movement then electric all the way. Both have there good points and bad.

I agree, carts are a personal thing since in TV they can be a reflection of your taste and personality. If you buy new I don't think it matters if gas or electric since the technology on electric has progressed significantly. You also need to determine how good a ride you want......larger steel belted radials and Ulitimate seats will give you a great ride, smaller wheels and standard seats will give you a harder ride. Whatever you buy make sure you take a long test drive to see how it corners, accelerates and braking performance and not just around the parking lot. You will be in the sucker for a number of years, do your best to get it right the first time. My wife and I each purchased new electric carts, if you want to know more send a PM and we can discuss.

I prefer gas carts. Gas and go every 150 to 250 miles. Change oil once a year. Check tire pressure once a month. Now just drive. Enjoy.
