Hey all: Driving home tomorrow to VA. Whats the best way to get to 95? Google maps gives three options. I took the 301 route coming in but the slow limits, stops, etc., was annoying. Is that the best way back or one of the other choices?

Tried all routes IMO this is most direct and has fewest obstacles
Rt 42 east to 19north, east on 40 to 95 at Ormand Beach.
Have never encountered heavy traffic prior to 95

Don't overlook the time of day that you plan to travel. Mornings lately have been extremely foggy. 42/19, etc is through the Ocala National Forest. It may be 55 MPH. But it's an undivided road, whereas 301/10East is divided--far more safeer to travel especially under less than perfect weather conditions, IMHO.

Couldn't you take 75 to 85 (in Atlanta) to 95? Or is there a better way? I'm from Richmond.

take 75 to I 10 in Jacksonville and I 10 to 95, but you would encounter traffic nightmare in Jacksonville, I am sure ( I used to live there, traffic is usually terrible in that area--- any time of day ).

Taking 75 N to 10 E is 50 miles farther than 301 to 10E... just making note of it

Never looked at this so it could be better than 301, but 301 is the route I take. 75 is too long so skip it.

This is the way we travel to/from I-95.
We find the drive through the Ocala Forest very relaxing.
Of course we use the Jacksonville bypass, 295.

I live in Lynnhaven and use this route to I95.
Cr466 west,continue straight on 466 at US 301.
Cr 466w turns into Rt 475 North.Only 2 lanes but no traffic.
At Rt 484 turn left towards I75.About a mile.
Take I75 north.
Exit 358 Rt 326 east for about 2 miles.
Turn left on 301 north. You are now north of Ocala.Obey the speed limits on 301.
Take I10 to I 295 north.
Then take I95 north.
This way is a few miles longer than staying on 301 all the way to I10 but if traffic is heavy(it is always heavy and at times stop and go) on 301 in Ocala and south you will save some time and the drive is less stressful.
If you live near Brownwood, take Rt 44 to I75 north.

I was a patient at Mayo in Jacksonville for almost 3 years. IMHO this is definitely the fastest and easiest route.

If you decide to take this route, you would not need to go to Jacksonville, you would take the 295 bypass before Jacksonville.
We usually take 75 to 301 to 10, but this year coming down to Florida, we are going to try taking 301 right after entering Florida, crossing 10 and continuing on 301 to 75 (avoiding Ocala) and exiting at 44. They did some expansion on that part of 301 last year. Has anyone tried taking that section of 301, crossing 10 and up to 95?

This route was great! A little fog from time to time as well as a couple deer but the time it took to get to the 95/10 split was the same but without all the stopping and slowing down on the 301 route.

I'm from Richmond, VA too and HATE the part between TV and 95, no matter which way we go. I say the best route is via private jet.

Just east of Richmond and it would be quicker by private jet!

Next time when heading north on 19 turn onto 445A to get to 40. This will cut off 2 sides of a triangle and save you several miles and time. It comes into 40 just a mile west of Astor.
