The interview seems to be full of various generalities some of which are true. Except that many other media outlets compete in TV with the Villages Daily Sun and VNN like the Orlando and Ocala TV stations, radio, and newspapers.

It depends on the neighborhood but some neighborhood groups are quite well interwoven with social connections. The same can be said of the many church groups in TV which create all kinds of intersocial connections.

The politics in the Villages is something fierce judging by how many times the Republican candidates have come a-courting the Villagers' voters and their influence on other people.

Just look at all the clubs too in TV which get an active life style.
