BBQ in birdcage

Hi all,
Just wondering, does anyone bbq in their birdcage? I was thinking that the grease in the smoke might get stuck to the screen on the roof and make for an ugly birdcage and when it rains all or some of the grease will wash down into the birdcage and make for a dirty and slippery floor.
I think I answered my own question.......
Any other opinions or tales from experience appreciated

We had our grill inside our cage for over two years until one morning we woke up and had two holes in our screen. Rats chewed through the screen to get to the grill. They smelled the drippings. We called our pest control people and they told us not to keep the grill inside or the rats will continue to chew through the screens to access the food. It's been about 4 months since we moved the grill out, along with putting out a rat bait trap, and all is good. Pest control said never to keep food, bird seed, or pet food on your lanai as the rats will smell it and chew the screens to get to it. I do know people that have never had a problem with this and have their grill on thei lanai so I guess it's a risk you take.

Our bird cage is large enough to allow a remote type corner where we have our gas grille located (for the last 10 years). It is stainless steel but I keep it covered to protect and preserve against the damaging FL sun and rains.

There is no "greasy " run off of any kind. There is no accumulation of smoke residue an any of the surrounding screen. And have never has any runoff of any kind in previous locations, covered or uncovered.

I suppose it could depend somewhat on the quality of the bbq you are putting in place.

The choice is yours.

I have had a propane grill for over seven years in my cage and use it about twice a week. Never a problem with grease, smoke or anything else.

hat about a real grill, powered by charcoal? I keep mne outside to use, but sometimes rng it in when weathrgets bad. If I wanted Gag, I ould have gotte the built-in with rage hood.

Many people have summer kitchens and I don't really see much difference between that and a grille. If both are kept clean I don't see any problem.

If the grill is under a roof and you have a fire you may have insurance issues

What about a summer kitchen? Would the same hold true for that? I've never seen anything in our insurance policy regarding a grill unless I've missed it.

That is true, however, an exhaust doesn't make it any safer.

Ten years of grills in birdcage, no problems at all(rats, residue,etc)

Just moved my propane BBQ out of the birgcage because of residue on screening above. Seems to have built up then washed off with rain leaving some residue on things.
