If you are considering new cell service I would not recommend Consumer Cellular. Just, finally, cancelled my service with them a month and a half after I stopped using their service. $38 I did not owe them, but they promised debt collection action if I did not pay! You owe us!!! Their big deal is their connection with AARP. Which I have not renewed since they jumped in bed with Obama I would recommend a less expensive service that I have used for years and went back to for service. PTEL.COM based in the Chicago area and provide service through t-mobile. They have a wide variety of inexpensive cell phones and have always provided good coverage and customer service. I have Consumer Cellular and love it. Great coverage in the Villages using ATT towers and the customer service is great.

My wife and I have Consumer Cellular and works works fine. Best part is we are saving $80/month over what we paid Verizon. The 3G data package is slower than Verizon's 4G-LTE, but still acceptable. Data speed really doesn't matter so much anymore since there is free wifi almost everywhere except when we are in our car.
