She is going for the Olympic gold in pole vaulting. She is the sweetest young lady from a small town and a working class family. She had never touched a pole until about 3 years ago. It is all about hard work and natural ability. I hope people will support and cheer her on.
She is from Fredonia, NY and I know her very well.

Wow, that's great--congratulations! We once visited a surrogate grandson when he was attending SUNY Fredonia, and it is indeed a small place with (politely put) a very cold winter season!

Jennifer

I admire your accomplishments and in such a short time. You are a role model for others--showing them what hard work, practice, perserverance, and positive attitude can accomplish.

Best wishes to you! I'll be watching and cheering you on.

Regardless of whether you win or lose, at least you will try and do your best. That is what's most important.

Godspeed.

Jen was named USA Track & Field's May Athlete of the Month after breaking her own US record by vaulting 16'3/4" at the Adidas Track & Field Classic. She was selected as the Team USA Athlete of the meet, presented by VISA.
Next is the Olympic Trials in Oregon. We think she will be vaulting in the finals on July 6, which should be on TV. Qualifying competition is before that, but due to her being the top ranked vaulter in the trials, I think she doesn't have to qualify.

I watched a taping of the US Track and Field Trials on USA from July 3, 2008 and saw little if anything on the pole vault trials so it does not look like you missed your friend Jen mcelheny.

Guess those trials for pole vaulting did not have any dramatic tv for USA.
