This is a statement from Queen Rania of Jordan. Some people have wanted to see this kind of statement.
As a Muslim, it pains me when someone derides Islam and my religious beliefs. It also pains me when someone derides other religions and other people’s religious beliefs. But what offends me more, much more, are the actions of the criminals who, this week, dared to use Islam to justify the cold-blooded murder of innocent civilians. This is not about Islam or being offended by the Charlie Hebdo magazine. This is about a handful of extremists who wanted to slaughter people for any reason and at any cost.
Islam is a religion of peace, tolerance and mercy. It is a source of comfort and strength for more than 1.6 billion Muslims – the same people who are shocked, saddened and appalled by the events in Paris this week.
Today, I join His Majesty King Abdullah in Paris to stand in solidarity with the people of France in their darkest hour... To stand in unity against extremism in all its forms and to stand up for our cherished faith, Islam. And so that the lasting image of these terrible events is an unprecedented outpouring of sympathy and support between people of all faiths and cultures.

Great remarks.....I also think folks should read and think about the remarks by the President of Egypt...
"“It’s inconceivable,” he said, “that the thinking that we hold most sacred should cause the entire umma [Islamic world] to be a source of anxiety, danger, killing and destruction for the rest of the world. Impossible!”
What a refreshingly honest statement to come from not only a political leader but a Muslim political leader who has much to lose, not least his life! Contrast his very true words with the habitual reassurances of the Western establishment that Islamic world violence and intolerance is a product of anything and everything but Islam."

Our leaders in this country refuse to even mention this as ISLAMIC terrorism and it is refreshing to hear this.
Of course this is a man not like by our government.

These are certainly very courageous statements by both Jordon and Egypt but the only thing that is going to help abate this senseless violence is an aggressive engagement against these terrorist by the military NSA ,etc

It is great to finally see these statements after so much violence perpetrated by Islamic extremists. The only way this will end is when those who believe in Islam make it stop by standing up to these terrorists.

If something is going to be done from within then it will have to be accomplished by the inmans good luck with that one

This is a comforting type of statement that I truly believe needs to be duplicated at the 'top' and animated then by actions. The world needs to know that Muslims do not embrace OR support these devilish murderers and that they are pariahs in our diverse multicultural world - everywhere.
I think they have to be banned, 'coughed up' and identified as criminals without a direct or indirect support system.
Good, morally courageous and timely post, Quirky3. Thanks. :)

Statements are one thing, but stopping the killings is takes action.

Unfortunately, according to various polls, a very large percentage of Muslims globally do support terrorism. Depending on the question and the country, it can even be a majority. Check the links or google "muslim poll terrorism". A lot of respected sources show the same polling results.

Personal attacks on the person who runs an website are usually very bad logic.

This statement is all well and good the thing that scares me the most is the fact of Sharia law. I have said it before that you dont want it and that is what islam is all about.

If a singular person has rights to speak the record in public, as he sees it, then everyone
SHOULD look at the overall characteristics of that person, so then you can weed out BIAS!

The peace-loving Muslims' silence tells the story they're too afraid to speak aloud.

I understand what you mean. We must speak up for them. I have Muslim friends who will not speak up because they fear what will happen to family members who are in their homelands. At the same time, many have an obligation to speak up on their own. The "silent majority" no longer cuts it.

That's like arguing that some AP story in Villages Daily Sun is biased because it shows up in our paper.

"Sharia-compliant financial instruments can't pay or collect interest, due to Islam's proscription of usury; Islamic investments also can't be associated with alcohol, pork, gambling, pornography, or other Muslim prohibitions. Islamic finance surged in recent decades by introducing products that mimic credit cards, savings accounts, and mortgages while avoiding interest."
How can Sharia-compliant businesses flourish much less survive if you can't charge interest and can't borrow money? I suppose you can borrow money but the lender can't charge interest.

Any truth to the rumor that the holy book (which they follow) of the muslims calls for the killing of those that will not convert ? How can they then be peace loving or trusted?

Two sides and somewhere in the middle lies the truth. I'm sure the daily sun would not freely quote msnbc either.
