I am painting pictures for our new house in Hadley and I am up here in Ohio. I have one image of the colorful bathrooms or changing rooms at Lake Sumter Landing and would love some more or another one to copy. Also any really great pictures of anything in TV if you care to share. I am a lot of trouble!

I hope this is an O.K. request and the thread police don't get me. It is pretty selfish.

Hugs and thanks in advance.

I suppose you will need pictures of both the men's and the women's bathrooms? I do not remember the men's public restroom at Lake Sumter Landing being all that colorful inside??

OH DEAR. I must be asking for the wrong thing. There is a series of small connected "buildings" in shades of pastel near Lake Sumter Landing. I assumed that they were bathrooms, made to look like cabanas or changing rooms. Maybe I have their function wrong. They are like a series of four or so mini "row houses" each with a different color and with contrasting window shutters. On the trolley tour, the leader said it was one of the most photographed places in TV.

I really don't want a picture of inside a bathroom, but hugs to you Tal. You are the greatest!!

Were these right by the lake or away from it? Seem to remember some buildings like this on the dock by Lake Sumter??

Hi Gracie,
Maybe these picture sites posted by VK earlier this year will help you find something to paint.

https://www.talkofthevillages.com/smf/index.php/topic,4863.0.html

http://www.thevillagesphotoclub.org/contest.htm

They are not all about the Villages, but some qualify and they are taken by residents and just amazing in many respects. Enjoy.

P.S. The cute little cabanas, are bathrooms. Still cute, and make a good picture.

OH MY GOSH! I don't know which to choose!

I don't feel quite as guilty now asking for this because anyone would enjoy these astounding pictures!!! How can I thank you once again, my new friends. You are the best!

Just keep posting. I think everyone will love this.

If only my inadequate hands and eyes can capture some of this beauty.

roflao I didn't know those were public bathrooms. I just thought they were cute little buildings. Learn something new every day.

There's public restrooms in LSL?

I just ducked into Starbucks when the time was right.

I wonder how she found these?? I got this which is a not very good picture of them via a Google search. http://flickr.com/photos/graustark/494694646/

Guess this is art which is trying to make some kind of statement about TV??

You are right. IMHO that http://flickr.com/photos/graustark/494694646/ is not a good picture for painting purposes. It is way too fuzzy.

The photographer is right that the doors that this pictures shows go nowhere. They do not even open but are part of the wall.

I walked by there late this morning with my dog Sport.

When LSL was first build one of the designers -- not a family member--was asked what his favorite building was at LSL. He said the bathrooms that are being discussed. This is true!!!!

I was looking a the lowellsphotos link Tal posted. If you click on the link below it will take you to his Gallery 18 (titled Lake Sumter Landing 2). Just scroll down to the very last picture and you will see another shot of the facade to the public restroom.

That's a neat photo of those public restrooms in Gallery 18 of Lowell's Photos. Could not see it until I got to a library computer because we have been having problems loading the lastest Flash.

:agree: I thought the shading and lighting made for a very beautiful picture.

I am not artist so don't paint like gracie does. I am trying to figure out a way to copy the pic so I can frame it. However, there is some sort of "protect" on the lowell print and it won't let me copy it.

There must be a way and I'm trying to figure it out.

Bright.

I am painting that picture now and all of the angles are making me cuss. It is not a fun painting, more like drawing and then coloring in. I am off on some of my angles and I came here to the computer to let off steam before I go up and white out my mistakes. When you come to my house and see it, might be good idea to lie. ;D

I'm good at stenciling...because I don't have to freehand anything. I'm also good at tracing... ;D Then there is the overhead projector...wish I could hug and kiss that inventor!

But, freehand...no way!

Just think of your final product...whiteout or not.

I admire your talent and wish I had been so blessed.

I also love painting! white out? Are you using watercolor paints? I paint oil on canvas. I need some new brushes, then watch out! It is so relaxing to me. I won't get anything else done for a day or two! Would love to see your finished painting!

Rhonda.

The blessing of painting with acrylics is that if you don't like a part you can paint over it. I sometimes will cancel out dark areas with white before I embark again. I am thinking of learning to swear in yet another language. Altogether it is fun, but like sewing requires some patience, my very shortest suit.

Not Gauguin,
