Hello -

We have taken the feedback on the classifieds and have been working behind the scenes on updates. As with any programming this takes some time. Until the updates are released we wanted to know if the majority would prefer to continue as is or to revert back to the classified forum post format?

Thanks for your support and patience.

The original format was better for my needs. I run into problems often when I try to look at the item's details. My computer flags a possible virus and refuses to open the window. Also, I have difficulty going to the next page. Sometimes it works, other times it doesn't. I do not know if I am the only person with these problems.

Although Panjo has been a problem and somewhat of an annoyance at times there has been a learning curve for me that I have been getting used to. If there is going to be an improved version of Panjo then I would be willing to wait but if it's staying the same then reverting to the old format is best.

Thank you for considering going back to the old posting of classified. I have used TOTV to purchase items in the past and would not consider purchasing with the new format. For me every time I thought about trying to purchase something it was just one big pain in the B___! Thank you again for considering this.

My wife and I have clicked on "BUY" 4 different times and only once were we ever contacted about having purchased the item. I don't know what the prior system was like, but it had to be better than the disaster that Panjo has been for us. Therefore, please revert.

Please revert back to the prior format. This has been nothing but a PITA when it comes to my trying to buy an item. Have given up and now just go to yard/garage sales in my car. Cannot/will not use this application on TOTV. Thanx for listening.

Panjo is horrible. It's very difficult to find what you're looking for. It's probably nice from an administrative perspective as it probably saves a lot of work. But speaking a a consumer, I hate it.
The old system was much better.

Please go back to the former way, or do anything other than Panjo. When I click "Buy Now" I seldom get any response, and when I try to message the seller it asks for my email address and when I put it in it says they already have that email address and it won't let me go any farther. It's terrible!!

Well said - ditto - revert to old system. :mademyday:
Less confusion for the "casual" seller although the "professional sellers" that use it probably prefer Panjo.
Just sayin....

If you're going to go forward with Panjo, going back seems umm 'backwards'.

AND why are pets allowed on these classifieds?? One was a rescue and it was FOR SALE!! I could see pets free to a good home maybe, but for SALE??

I have sold at least 12 items using it.

Please, PLEASE do not revert back to something that will make this forum look like Craig's List again. It's supposed to be a forum for discussion, not a means of selling things.

Somehow people got hold of TOTV and turned it into Craig's List a while back. You couldn't find a thread for discussion without wading through pages and pages of things for sale.

If you revert back to the former classified forum, PLEASE keep the opt out feature, like you had with the political forum.

Panjo is NOT user friendly and there are multiple extra steps. There is no need for a third party to be involved in this site.

I liked the old way better. It seemed more user friendly to me. The biggest problem I see for both buyer and seller with panjo is the buy it now button.

:agree:I took the Poll Above and chose the old way.^^^^^
Reason being Panjo seemed easy enough at first when I was selling and buying. I was getting PM via Totv, but at some point that changed and I had to check in on the buying link each day to catch up with messages from buyers or sellers, some too late to make a deal.
Now for days it had been asking me to view message and update, and it does step one, but no step 2 in sight under arrow as listed, so it seems less user friendly, as time goes on.
Not to mention my first sale back in July the buyer clicked buy it now and I did not know until they PM'd me to ask why I had not called them about their purchase, learning the hard way.
Also I have sent sellers questions with no answers.
And my biggest pet peeve is Sellers not marking Items SOLD.....

Don't get me wrong I Love Totv and the classifieds, but wish there was not a Test Classified, as I have noticed many posting their for sale item there instead of above where it plainly says to Post Items for Sale Only.

:):spoken:Thank you Admin for all you do for us!

Please revert back!

The old method was a wonderfully rich interactive system where folks would ask questions, complain about the product, predict things wouldn't sell, and, generally, make for interesting reading.

I would read the threads for things that I didn't want to buy just to see how questions were answered and the back and forth between posters.

Folks in The Villages are very interactive. "Buy It Now" buttons don't fit in here.

I like the new panjo. The only thing I would suggest to get rid of the buy it now button

Panjo is MUCH better. Looking at 24 images per page sure beats scrolling through all those ads.

I prefer the old system. I used it and found it easy to post and to respond to postings. I honestly have not tried the new system. I started to and decided that it was too convoluted. Also, reading the threads on TOV, I do not think that I am alone in feeling this way.

Your new system for listing classifieds is a giant leap forward and should be continued and enhanced. My only constructive criticism is that unless people respond to a For Sale Ad it keeps dropping down and goes completely out of sight. I know you have criteria for bumping an ad but the time frame is so long it tends to be punitive by not letting the ad be shown.

My vote would be to go back to the old system, you didn't have to wait over 12 hours for your item to be posted, if at all. Support from Panjo is limited in my experience and have not assisted me to completion, closed on weekends. I am all for new technology, but they need to work out too many bugs before this should be considered in my opinion. Thanks for asking.

Ads should not be imited to items for sale in The VILLAGES if a Villager has propety or services for sale/rent outside The Villages.

Go back to the old way. I was able to easily communicate with the seller or buyer and conduct transactions. Now I have given up on Panjo... it is confusing, unclear and worst of all there is no time/date stamp so you cannot tell what was recently put on sale.

In the old classified I felt like I was dealing with other villagers, but with pango it seems we are open to the whole world. Also since the change, I get better results using the online news classified which targets Villagers.

I liked the old way.

On another note, does anyone know how is the best way to contact someone at TOTV by email or preferably by telephone. I am with a Club that has a posting on the site and we need to make changes or delete the information and start over. The gentleman that set up the posting is no longer in charge and not involved. I have sent two or three emails and have not been able to reach anyone or get a reply. Any information would be greatly appreciated and If you could reply directly to me it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for your help.

I believe that Panjo was a commendable experiment. However, since it is Third-party server based website, it is too difficult to customize for our purposes. Also, each time Panjo updates their software, we are likely to have problems, yet we will not have the power to fix our own problems.

That being said, if users would just learn to buy and sell with Panjo properly, there would be far fewer problems. Here is what I have observed:

1. Too many sellers want to treat digital classifieds just like newspaper classifieds. They want a phone call and list their numbers. REALLY BAD IDEA! Phone numbers, once on the internet are there forever and can be used, along with other bits of data for identity theft.

Not to mention, why be a slave to a phone call from a buyer when you can have him message you and you can get to him at your convenience.

2. Sellers who have encouraged direct contact from Buyers have undermined the "Buy Now" feature and in doing so have caused serious grief resulting in "two" buyers, the one on their doorstep and the one who clicked "buy now" .

I would like to see an TOTV Inhouse Classified which better explains the proper method of use and also allows a "make offer" button.

I would also like to give sellers the choice of marking an item as "sale pending" so that they can choose to give a buyer time to view an item, without ending up with two buyers.

I am sure Admin will give us what we need. He has done an excellent job so far with the forum. It is one of the most functional I have seen.
