change a hot key on a keyboard

I bought a Microsoft Sculpt wireless keyboard and mouse. It doesn't have a dedicated sleep key. I have read that you can change one of the Windows 8 hot keys to control this function. However, I am not confident in completing the task. If anyone is interested in coming to my house to do this I will reimburse you for your time.
