No Chacam....you are not imagining things; I saw the post and replies and followup questions, including some that I posted. It does seem to have disappeared.

Admins, this is an important local topic. Can you explain why this was pulled?

I am really trying to understand your editorial policy but, frankly, it seems inconsistent and heavy handed at times.

Oh chacam, I am so sorry. I think that was my fault. -- Even though I am not the developer, I think you may be referring to my post in the "Horse Park" thread.

You see, I get up pretty early and I sit down at this kitchen computer and eat Cheerios with walnuts on them and drink coffee and read this stuff and sometimes start writing. It has become way too much of a routine and I really need to move forward with my life. But anyway, this morning I deleted what I had just written when I went back in to edit.

I had written about my questions, as a potential buyer in TV, about this "Horse Park. This thing is definitely not in my backyard, but I am sure watching it to see if I want it to be. I'm a part of the target market for TV.

My questions have to do with what kind of effect this would have on property values and whether the competition for a labor pool would affect the things Villagers enjoy and expect on a daily basis. I don't think this should be about who wants to go and who doesn't. There is a lot more to it than that.

Oh, and as usual, I digressed a bit with my opinion about the euphemism "Horse Park" which is either an insult to the voters' intelligence or it is a carefully chosen euphemism for marketing purposes. Maybe it's both. "Horse Park" will "play in Peoria" where TV marketing is concerned. But I don't think this is a "Horse Park."

So anyway, I wrote the thing and then managed to delete it. But I do try to be a good citizen of TOTVland so I had to give you an explanation, at least I think it was my post.

And I just could not let you go through your day thinking you were nuts. I know exactly how that feels.

Boomer,

Amusing, as always, but, I believe Chacam is talking about an entirely separate thread.

This thread was initiated late last night and replied to by Muncle and I. It was initiated by a gentleman who is one of the owners/sponsors of the proposed horse park where he offered to answer questions about the proposal. That thread has been pulled.

Boomer, this was a separate thread by mikeg. He had included phone numbers where he could be contacted, etc.

I can't say I always agree with some of the policies here but this one, I believe, was a huge mistake to pull. It was not an ad. He was giving his side and offering to meet with us. So, why was it removed?

He was giving some good information. Some of the comments he included was that there had been a study done and that with the planned widening of 301, it should have no traffic impact. The developer is paying for the special election. Sadly, I can't remember any of the other salient points (read it when I first woke up).

This is an addendum to my post above. You see, I have just developed a great fear of trying to edit a post that just went to print so until I get over that, I will just add this on here:

Anyway, you may not be talking about my post at all so maybe this is not about me. But I knew when it disappeared someone had probably been reading it at that time. And the timing of chacam's question was immediately after my stupid deletion. I was just going to turn off the computer and do all the stuff I am avoiding today when I saw chacam's questioning of his own sanity. And I just could not let that happen.

So anyway, now I really must be off.

Boomer

(Uh oh. Just tried to post and saw the red warning appear and looked down and now I see that I guess it was not about me and that's OK, too. I really must stop with all this guilt. Or am I just procrastinating.)

So anyway, now I really, really must be off.

This park would be out on 301 by John Deere. I love the idea. Many in TV go to Tampa or elsewhere to play cards or use the parimutuals. Now that's a waste of gas when we could have a facility close by. There are many of us in TV that enjoy gaming.

We have made a proposal to the developers of the Oxford Horse Park. We are waiting for their reply.

You are right, this is an important issue and we trust they will make the right decision about discussing it here.

To the gentlemen who manage this great site:

Does that mean that you asked them to pay for advertising, or am I missing something? I understand the bottom line.

I am not a gamer. I have kicked enough bad habits. I have no problem with anyone else gambling.

I am glad that they are planning to pay for widening the road.

There is a horse track, Scioto Downs, south of Columbus. It is not surrounded by a BAD area, but it is not a great area either.

Horse Park means Horse Track doesn't it?

There is a beautiful Horse PARK in Lexington, Kentucky that shows the workings of a breeding horse farm and champion quality horses.

Are you saying that their post was advertising ? ? ?

Gracie, the widening of 301 has been in the works for awhile. There was an article in the Sun not too long ago that the Florida legislature had approved about $300,000,000 (if I remember the figure correctly) for this widening. I don't think the track had anything to do with it.

I'm still having difficulties with the idea that the thread was pulled. mikeg's responses were articulate and well stated. He did not denigrate any fears or concerns but rather tried to address them.

Of course, being inherently curious, I'd love to know what the "proposal" is.

Here it is, I copied it to print out for Sailor.........

Hello TOTV-

This is a message from Michael Goldstein, the proposed Oxford Horse Park developer. After spending the last few months in the area, and meeting many great people, I was directed to this website as a forum to provide more info to those who have not been able to visit our offices, information boothes at the town squares, or attend one of our many public meetings.

And after reading many messages from concerned residents on this site, I felt the need to let everyone know that I am available to speak to all concerned residents, either individually or as groups. We have two offices, one at 1037 Canal St in Lake Sumter Landing, next to Johnny Rockets, and another in Wildwood next to Hungry Howies. Our office phone number is 352-750-6730 and my cell number is 352-603-3699. In addition, we have booths set up in Lake Sumter Landing and Spanish Springs tomorrow (Thursday), June 10, 11, 12, and 16 when the respective town squares are open.

If you have any questions, or would like to set up a time for me to speak to your group, please stop by or call us. I think that you will find that we have answers to most of the concerns that you have.

Thank you, and please, Vote YES! on June 17!

Michael Goldstein, VP Green Bridge Development/Oxford Horse Park

Maybe the train whistle will be the call to post

I think this was intended to be humerus. My wife and I don't find the train whistle humerus. She has multiple sclerosis and we moved here to get her away from stress and noise, so that she can live in peace and quiet. The train and its noise was deliberately kept from us by the developer and his representatives. We are now stuck. It goes almost though our back yard. It was the responsibility of the agent to tell us about it and he didn't.

There are lots of people who said we should have done our own research. Probable so. But I wonder how many of those people took the time to see if there was a train running by their house. By the luck of the draw, it wasn't in their case.
