input shaft on yamaha electric cart

my cart makes a noise when I release pressure on the gas pedal. I was told it's the input shaft and that the bearing is worn. Is it still safe to drive and for how long before it needs to be fixed?

As long as the noise does not increase in sound it should fairly safe until you deside the have it repaired. Not knowing from my point of reference the level of noise that is currently preasant, gauge yourself accordingly for its repair.
