Our main TV is ok, but both last nite and tonite we have had to reboot the lanai and bedroom TV.. they won't change channel unless we unplug box and reset.. annoying. I will notify comcast once I get my courage to call their customer service... they need a record of this ..

We are in Virginia Trace. It has been intermittent for past two hours. Sometimes off for 3-4 minutes at a time.

Our picture freezes for a few seconds several times an hour and then refreshes. Started happening Saturday and they said they had a problem. TV came back but now have intermittent problems.

I recently had experience with Comcast customer service regarding my 93 year old Aunt who lives over in Citrus County. Comcast is really bad. I don't see how they make it. Worst customer service that I have ever seen. I got my Aunt hooked up with Brighthouse. I just bought a CYV in The Villages. I will not be using Comcast.

Our TV's have been freezing up for the past few days, but it seems mostly at night. It is annoying when watching a show and it freezes just at the part of the show you wanted to hear. I think the X1 platform still has a lot of bugs to work out. If I have time I will call them and try to get a credit for that.

Direct TV keeps getting knocks that they have outage when it storms. We changed from Comcast to Direct TV about 18 months ago and I think we had 2 outages for about 1 minute each in all this time. That beats the heck out of Comcast. We had Comcast for years and finally gave up and went to Direct TV. The picture is much better, it is much cheaper, we can record in any room (have 4) and play back in any room. We do have a regret. That is that we did not change over years earlier. It is a little pain to make the change but very very well worth it.

I'm leaving Comcast the worst ever. After months of trying to straighten bill I gave up and decided to just pay. Even the late fee! Then they posted the payment on my Illinois account, which is on vacation hold. Illinois and Florida Comcast are different companies, they do not correspond to each other They could not transfer the monies. Then they proceeded to shut off service. The only way to activate was to pay with credit card,if you talk to someone "they will increase the charges" then they are charging me for reactivation. In the meantime the IL Comcast will send me a refund check that will take 6-8 weeks.
I am changing service don't no where yet but definitely not Comcast. The worst ever.
BTW, a suggestion, anytime you speak to Comcast, have them email what they promise. They have very short memories. And do not use the Comcast suffix on your email address, they then got you.
Also, if you do use Comcast, you do not need to sign a commitment contract, Thank goodness I did not, I would be paying the breaking a contract penalty in addition to all the aggravation. Or maybe this will be another case of short memory on their part.
I wish Brighthouse went north of 466A. Any suggestions?

Our experiences have been similar to others for about a week now...intermittent freezes, some short delays, etc but returns to normal quickly, other than a prolonged problem a few days ago when it lasted several hours. Unfortunately this Op's original question has turned into another Comcast bashing which makes it harder to see if there is a broader problem with signal interruption in recent days. Comcast told me on Wednesday that they did not show any reported issues but would log my report and track others. Those that are Comcast haters, please use other posts to express your anger and stick to the question at hand so we can get Comcast to fix this problem. Thanks.

Good luck. Have Comcast triple play. Many problems with internet and phone that have plagued us for months. Even wrote letter to Comcast VP about problems. Sadly cable does not have enough competition to make them earn their revenues. Our TV has worked ok except for one time when service was shut off for no particular reason. Interested in knowing what people think of Century Link for cable and phone.

We have Century Link for internet only via fiber to the house. We are pretty happy with them. We are south of 466A. I would recommend them without hesitation.

I kept Comcast for broadband and am continually frustrated with the service. On a mission to find another ISP!

That's good to hear Fumar....I have to do my annual battle with Comcast next week when my "promotion" expires. If they don't offer me equal or lesser cost for same package, I will go elsewhere...either DTV or Century Link. I have had Comcast here and in MD for close to 30 years and it's never been a pleasant experience dealing with their customer service. I dread making that call. Products are decent, though I think their HD picture quality is so so, but customer service stinks.

I have spent over 5 hours trying to get Comcast to honor the contract agreement that I made with them in Nov. I was to have the same rate for the next 2 years, the price would not change, IF I agreed to the 2 years. I said yes. The very next bill had a $26.55 increase. I even have the transcript in writing with the offer!
Spent another 1.5 hours trying to get that fixed, they said whoever made that deal with me should NOT have done that and would not honor it the deal. BUT said I could NOT cancel the 2 year contract.
HA! Watch me. I am done with Comcast. Since 2010, my rates went from the $99 "New Customer Deal" to over $210.00 a month for EXACTLY the same service. I have not added anything to our service!
I really would be interested in Bright House from everything I have read on here, but they do not have service above 466. So who is the best and most reasonable priced service for those above 466?

No internet service for the past 12 hours with Comcast.
Since we have VOIP phone service, we didn't have a phone either.
We spent an hour on our cell phone getting the internet service turned back on -- no excuse offered by Comcast.
I am done with Comcast and looking for the best alternative for TV/internet.

We watch lots of free on demand movies and Comcast gave us a selection of probably over a 100 and Century Link gave us 9. Add to that that Century Link usually about once a week lost the picture and we had to call, and go thru the routine to restore it. I've gone back to Comcast and am so far happy.

How does price compare? Does Century Link tend to lose the picture a lot?
Comcast has been pixillating a lot lately. Is that even a word?

That's definitely a word, lol. pixelating can be caused by a variety of reasons, not all the carriers fault. If I'm on an HD channel and experience it, I switch to the non HD channel, and a lot of times it's fine. Truth be known, most people, to the naked eye, could not differentiate between HD and non HD. Test it for yourself, blindly.

I have Century Link internet with 40 Mbps download/20 Mbps upload and 100 Mbps download is available. Apparently 1000 Mbps download is also available but it may take a few phone calls to make it happen. These are hardly speeds for novices but they also have slower speeds. Fiber optics to the house.

Hello Fellow Villagers'
I'm the local sales rep for Brighthouse for The Villages. If you are interested in switching to us for service we do have excellent offers for new customer on your Cable, Internet & phone service. We have plenty of campaigns where you get free installation and most of out bundle campaigns do come with the 1st month free (excluding equipment cost). Plus we also offer home security as well.
In most cases if you are switching from Century Link or Comcast we are able to port your home number over, so you don't have to get a new number. All Brighthouse internet customers also get free access to all the free WiFi hotspots located at all the rec/pool centers south of CR 466A.
Keep in mind though that we are only available south of CR 466A though. Sorry.
For more information feel free to email or call me. Thanks
Are you EVER going to expand up further North in the Villages area? Please say yes.
I am above 466 and would LOVE to switch to your company. I have not heard the bad things about Brighthouse like I have for Conmcast or Centrylink.

I live in Sable Chase and haven't had any problems lately with Comcast not working properly on my TV, phone or internet. The only thing I am having a problem with is Comcast not setting up my Caller ID to show phone numbers on my TV when some calls me. I've been back and forth with Comcast about that for the past two weeks and it's very discouraging that they haven't resolved that issue yet. And, yes, their Customer Service really sucks! I agree, I don't know how Comcast stays in business with their awful Customer Service.

I figured since my phone with Comcast is voice over internet and it can go out as it did recently, I'm going to try an ooma. got a refurb off ebay for $79. If it works out, will start my gradual withdrawal from bundled Comcast services. hoping to get down to just their internet.

Yes, where you are located in The Villages may impact your satisfaction. I suspect Century Link customers with fiber to the house may be more satisfied than those who have copper to the house.

I think that is the problem most of us have with Comcast -- Customer Service is a joke.
And they have no way to reach them via email.
You MUST call them on the telephone and listen to all their sales pitches while you're on hold.
They made a minor change on our account, which knocked out our internet service for 12 hours.
When I finally reached Tech Service, they said "Customer Service must have changed an account code, that often knocks out the internet service." :Screen_of_Death:

I suspect you actually have coax cable to the house and not copper. There are a lot of pieces needed to provide service to your home. Fiber is newer so all the pieces may be newer and perhaps more reliable. Most of the really high speed services are fiber based and even Comcast will be rolling out their HFC (hybrid fiber-coax) soon. I don't think anyone will debate that fiber is a better medium than coax but it doesn't mean that coax isn't acceptable. My comment about fiber was in the context that the newer areas of The Villages have fiber to the house and it may provide a better service than the older copper (real copper, not coax) networks for Century Link customers. It certainly supports higher bandwidths.

As a follow-up, coax based networks have typically provided better bandwidth than DSL based copper networks. DSL bandwidths drop off with distance from the switching station which has limited the internet speeds and ability to receive IPTV for some customers. Coax based cable companies typically deliver higher bandwidths but those bandwidths are shared among customers so your experience may vary depending on what your neighbors are doing. Fiber based networks to the house can deliver enormous bandwidths.

When you thought you had seen and heard everything Comcast comes up with one more shot. About 6-7 months ago we had Comcast discontinued and replaced with Direct TV which we are extremely happy with. At the time of the change over from Comcast to Direct TV I sent a letter, return receipt required, and notarized informing Comcast Hdq in Philadelphia that we had cancelled their service, returned all equipment, including the modem as we purchased our own so we should not be billed a rental for a modem. I included receipts showing the confirmaiton of the returned modem, et al. I heard nothing back but did get a signed receipt for my letter.
Yep, yesterday I received a letter from Comcast informing me they had not been billing me for a modem and the rental charge of $10 per month would start March 1st. I called them and told them of the letter I sent and that I have my own modem, (we do use Comcast internet service without their modem and pay $38 a month.) They said they were sorry and would not bill me. I wonder how many get con'd by them with this sort of thing and people pay the fraudent charge? I thought we would never have to call them again about a bill and BINGO here they come again !! Some on TOTV's suggested I send the letter to their Hdq's as they continue to bill even after service is cut off. I thought that was not necessary but because I have a lot of faith in the
TOTV people I did it and wow again they were right. Kudo's to them. :ho:

The problem for consumers when it comes to cable dealers is that there is no one they can contact to complain who will promptly act upon their concerns whether it be customer service billing pricing deceptive practices, etc
This creates a second problem because switching from one to another doesn't resolve much.
As to Comcast my main complaint has to do with their television sector. bundling for one and the continual raising of prices another. I also believe customers should not have to rent their equipment and unlike some believe that providing equipment is at their expense in order to bring their product into a home. finally between forcing commercials on customers via block fast forward, requesting customers to buy not only the latest editions but old movies is contrary to the reason for cable TV genesis
