Does anyone know if this resturant is actually coming to TV? Or will it fall by the wayside like Friendly's?

I thought it was suppose to be next to Barnes & Noble. Survey work was done, but there has been no other action on that site that I know of.

Not according to the T.G.I Friday representative who e-mailed me that there was no plan to have one of their restaurants in TV.

Have a friend that works for TV who tells me the straight skinny. seems Fridays wanted a seperate parking lot and TPTB wanted them to share the Barnes & Noble parking lot, so Fridays pulled out. Maybe we can start a campaign to get them to take over the Whiskey Creek space.

I have seen TGIF's in strip malls so seems weird the problem would be parking. Never can tell though.

I agree Hope - I've seen many Friday's that share parking.

TGIF advertised for construction bids for a free standing building on Old Camp Road on or about 9/1/08. No updates since then.

Construction reports, and building permits and talking to the GC's on site. Now I will say they have suppose to have started this deal along time ago. It keeps changing. The GC that did the Red Lobster was telling me that alot of the Rest. Chains have stopped building, and pulled the plug on alot of things. He was suppose to bid on a Ruby Tuesdays, but he thought that was getting the axe also. I am surprised that they are going forth with Burger King in Buffalo Ridge. THen they are suppose to start the Lady Lake Assisted Living real soon on CR-466.
Alot of things in the works, just depends on economy I am hearing. If i hear something different will post it on the Friday's. Still think it is awful small area for them, but good location.

I am hearing that it maybe delayed again. They are going to do Morgan Stanely by Sweetbay. Should be starting that deal today. Then on to Creeskside Mill for Cold Water Creek. Then I think it will be Friday's if they dont delay again. See what happens.

"something" is happening now at LSL near the bridge by the canal--behind Barnes & Noble. I thought that might be TGIF's. Lot is cleared and marked. P.S. My assumption was wrong. Just read in the paper this morning that this lot is for Coldwater Creek Clothing Store NOT TGIF.

IMHO there's not enough parking anywhere in Lake Sumter let alone building a new restaurant.

Lack of parking? Wait until the Wellness Center moves and Spanish Springs has a large event like the monthly Cruise-In. The developer may start to charge for parking then.

TGI Fridays will get their own (national) building contractor.

Yesterday, I read on The Villages Gourmet website that plans have been approved and the TGIF will be coming to TV. There was no date on this message that I could find, but believe it was more recent that this thread. Hope it's true!!:coolsmiley:

Skip, TGIF is supposed to build at LSL, what does the Wellness Center and a cruise in at SS have to do with this thread?

Lighten up a little buddy. Parking in LSL was mentioned and the parking situtation in SS was another comparision.

We were just at Fridays in Orlando on Monday. The manager said they will start here during the 3rd. or 4th. quarter. They are working on one now at the SeaWorld entrance. He said he believes it will be in the original location next to Barnes & Noble.

The Daily Sun today reports that work has started at the future site of TGI Friday's and has photos showing the work. I drove by and they are doing ground preperation. The article reports that they will be open early 2010.

Whew!! Glad that is finally settled. Or is it? It's never over 'till the fat lady sings. They may discover oil on the site or maybe an old Indian burial ground. Oh, BTW, as to parking, parking is so scarce at times at LSL that people have been parking on the site of the proposed TGIF.

The T.G.I. Friday's that is now currently being built in The Villages, right next to Barnes and Noble, is slated to open January 25, 2010.:pepper2:

I saw the building just the other day, and I must say it's being built up rather quickly.. Which I'm very excited to see. I just love T.G.I Friday's!:a040:
