The price for a gallon of gas went up 10 cents in the past week in Georgia. Anyone in Florida notice a sudden price hike? Is this the beginning of the end of a good thing?

This time of year refineries typically take some production off line for maintenance and get ready for summer. That suppresses inventories and normally causes some amount of price increase.

However. crude closed at 44.50 today which is about a 6 year low and will continue to hold down gas prices for now. The great unknown if the new King of Saudi Arabia, Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud will continue to play hardball and keep Saudi crude production cranking. If he does the world price of crude will continue to see prices at near it's current level and gas prices will reflect it.

Oil is selling for $44 a barrel today, an unbelievable price just a year ago. Some places are higher due to taxes and delivery charges. What is the price of a gallon of gas in the mountains of GA?

I use diesel and it has gone down slightly I paid $2.69 yesterday.

According to my GasBuddy App, regular unleaded is at $1.969 at two locations in or near The Villages and there are a bunch of other locations at $1.999. I bought gas at Sam's Club one week ago and paid 3 cents more a gallon then.

Diesel is running $2.579 at two locations and $2.649 to at a couple more. I bought diesel at Sam's Club a week ago and paid 9 cents more.

Off hand, I'd say fuel prices here are still creeping downward.

Gas in the Georgia mountains yesterday was $1.87. Just a few days ago it was $1.77. Wondering what caused the spike since oil is still trading at historic lows.

So everyone is seeing an increase, but haven't heard any one giving any sort of explanation as to why - nor have I heard a word about it on the news!

Up here in NE Oh-hi-a, gas went from $1.97 to $2.35 in about a week. Remember the days when gas was 49 cents a gallon and stayed at that price for years? Of course a new car in the early 60's cost $2600 and your weekly wage was $100.

The sky is falling!

When we got here over a year and a half ago it wasn't uncommon to have the price of regular gas be around $3.90+/-....it could go up a $1 and I'd still be way ahead of the game.

Articles offer a bit of an explanation. Hope you find it answers some of your questions.
