A small retail shopping center is being planned south of Brownwood. It will be on the south side of 44, in the vacant lot immediately east of the now-closed restaurant. It isn't big - 11,880 sq. ft. single-story retail building with nine units.

Yes...totally agree. I really would like a CVS, a Boston Market & Pollo Tripical. Wishful thinking.

A great Trader Joe's location! (plus or minus 15 minutes any direction)

By looking at the plan, it won't be anything very big...each of the stores will be about 20X60'. (198' / 9 stores)

It doesn't have to be big just different from the standard fare.

More commonly known in Florida as a "strip mall" .

Hopefully, a Home Goods store.

It looks like the REA I talked to were right. I thought the Morse family would buy this land south of 44. South of 44 was owned by commercial RE companies waiting to build.

Although they stated it wouldn't be until TV finalize full build-out, I find it hard to believe they would wait for another 4k to 5K people to move into the new homes, to start this building.

I thought that was where the new bowling alley was suppose to be built.

And for that reason maybe the rent will be lower and there will be stores of a different type. I'll drive my car there.

Judging by the vast number of cars in all the shopping center parking lots, I disagree.

One of the TJMaxx managers told me that a HomeGoods/Marshalls will be opening in the Brownwood area in 2015. She said they originally thought it would be TJMaxx/HomeGoods, but the latest corporate news was that it would be Marshalls instead of TJMaxx.

****Awesome****I am holding my breath and hoping that is true!

I don't know in which new shopping development it will be located. But it looks as though there will be several new shopping areas coming into that area soon.

I was told a similar thing when shopping in the Orlando Home Goods in December. The salesperson said specifically that Home Goods was coming to the Brownwood area. She knows The Villages very well because her mother lives here. She "promised" that next Christmas I could shop closer to home. Have not heard anything official but hopeful anyway.

this does not appear to be Morse family related at all. There is still the large shopping center, Antrim Dell, to be built adjacent to Brownwood. original plan called for 500,000 sq.ft. shopping mall....land is being prepped...
