Fertilization abounds

Based on what I've seen here in Florida, this state must rank first in the amount of chemicals applied to lawns, and everywhere else. Maybe time to buy stock in those companies..

Our growing season is longer, so we do need more fertilizers, pesticides and fungicides.
Folks could grow very nice lawns and ornamentals here with organic fertilizers and non-toxic fungus and pest control, but most are retired and want to play and have others care for the landscape. The non-toxic route would require treatment more often, thus costing more than using toxic chemicals.
According to my post here a few months ago, questioning the subject, no one is willing to pay more to be non-toxic.

You are correct.

And then there is a possibility that in 50 years or so,
due to the indiscriminate use of pesticides,
The Villages will be the largest contaminated landfill in the state of Florida!

The 'neatness' of TV was very evident to me. We are currently renting in River Wilderness near Parrish, Fl. The home were renting in 'The Hammocks' is serviced by all kinds of spray addicts. Other sections in this development do their own lawn/shrub care and it shows. (sporadic) Back at home on the lake we live on, nitrogen is not allowed anywhere near the lakes. But that doesn't stop a lot of people who want a 'country club' look to their lawns...

I think they might be old hippies.

There are far more important things on my list right now to worry about.

Like people being burnt alive by Radical Islamists.

Morning all from Lakewood Ranch. I agree there are more important things to think about like the Florida State Fair. (Just kidding. Our foreign policy is in peril and has been for some time.
