Law enforcement officials are hoping that video surveillance will lead them to the thief who stole a large amount of cash from the safe at Dunkin Donuts in Brownwood.
The theft occurred at 10:45 p.m. Friday when an individual entered the coffee shop through the rear door and walked directly to the safe in the administration office, according to the Wildwood Police Department. The Dunkin Donuts normally closes at 10 p.m.
The individual opened the safe with the combination, took a large amount of cash and then fled out the rear door. The individual was dressed in dark clothing and wearing gloves, according to police.
The race of the suspect is not known, the police department said in a news release made public this afternoon.

Please do not call one the next time you need one. Thanks from all LEO's and us retired LEO's. Less time working on concerned citizen calls will leave more time for snacks and such.

My comment was meant to be light hearted and not to ruffle anyones feathers kcrazorbackfan. Nobody supports the police more than I even when they lack a sense of humor. However, I know that you have a good sense of humor based on your last sentence. This may come as a surprise but I happen to have LEO's in the family both past and present.

The Ice Cream store in Brownwood had money taken by a beautiful young employee, a villager. Now this is someone who knew the combination.

I feel sorry for businesses these days.

To me, it would sound simple to find out who opened the safe and took the money from Dunkin' Donuts.

I am sure there are a very limited number of people who had access to the combination lock. It is possible, of course, one of those gave the combination to an acquaintenance.

However, have every person who had access to the combination take a polygraph test. Ask if they gave the combination away or did it themself. Yes, a polygraph can be beat but chances are that the guilty one is not that versed in the techniques.

Even if a polygraph is not admissable in court, it sure can be used as a bargaining chip in a plea bargain.

This crime will not be difficult for law enforcement to solve.

Sumter County Sheriff has solved much tougher cases than this one. Its only a matter of time.

I'm trying to lighten up since full timing it here is fairly imminent; don't want to stay pi**ed off at the natives every time something is said about LEO's; I prefer Krispy Kreme anyway.

In today's Sun newspaper it said that Wildwood has hired 3 additional police officers to patrol Brownwood at the coast of $53,000 a year apiece. Tonight at the Mardi Gras at Lake Sumter I saw three different Sumter County police officers walking the square. Seems like they are getting a handle on the situation. Didn't see any trouble at the square, but it was nice to know they were there.

We have an overwhelming majority of people here who support and honor law enforcement folks.

I went to the police rally that was held at LSL a couple of weeks ago and the square was teeming with folks who support Law Enforcement Officers. We had a chance to shake the hands of many of our fine men and women who protect and serve us.

One of the things that I like about them is that they have polite language. They call a thug "this gentleman". They must be trained to speak in a certain way. Good thing I'm not a person in uniform. I would call him this ****head.

now now Gracie, not nice to call someone a dumbhead.

After seeing so many of these scum after arrest on news etc, if I was a cop...my knuckles would be constantly bruised and bloodied - I'd be off the force in no time. Especially for people that would rob our donut shop.

Bless our LEOs and military; always doing their job on our front lines.

This was a burglary, not a robbery.

Robbery- theft from a person by means force or threat of force.

Burglary- entry to a locked building or dwelling to commit a theft or other crime (a break in).

Inside job should be a short list, of suspects. Doesn't seem this person can have a very high I.Q., if several people, had the combination.

I think it will be a short time, until they get their dough back!!!! IMHO

In the meantime, "I've got to make the donuts".

Hi spd You are correct. It could be an issue as respects insurance policies

Gracie

Many law enforcement agencies insist that their folks use polite language. Two very good reasons that I can think of for doing so:
1) The folks paying their salaries appreciate people with manners.
2) Once you start to encourage thinking of any people as sub-human pond scum, it becomes (sadly) far to easy to pull that trigger.

If it hasn't happened already I'm sure he or she will caught before this weekend. The local police seem to have a reputation of quickly solving a crime. Good for them.....and us.

Not yet. The kidnap note said not to notify the coppers or their dough would be fried.
