HAL 9000 (2001: A Space Odyssey) is just around the corner. I hope he/she is an interesting conversationalist!
Are you listening Dave?

For now, a simple solution -- don't use the voice activation feature. But something tells me that in a generation or two, you'll have no choice. Big Brother may be a little late, but definitely seems to be here.

BUT...it was said that not using the voice activation makes other things not work as well as they should.
We took the trapeze down from the bedroom, just in case.

Now I'm paranoid about my other appliances. What are they plotting against me?

Read George Orwell's 1984, I read that in high school English lit. I thought that it was a complete fairy tail then. Now it starts to get real.

ahhh
Remember when 1984 and 2001 was the future?
Those were the days.
I hope I didn't say that out loud. I wouldn't want to offend.

And the top 10 Flashlight APPS have been found to contain malware and spyware. The more we use smart devices the more we risk privacy.

I guess there is something to be reconsidered before putting that 'old dumb' television to the curb; and something else to consider in perhaps scooping up those old televisions when they do get put to the curb! ;)
Could the be a future in the televisions of the past? LOL

Guess what there are TVs that respond to hand signals, that means they have a CAMERA, I will leave the rest to your imagination. We have the cameras on both laptop taped over, If we need to video chat, the tape comes off, when we are done back goes the tape. It is unfortunate, but these can be controlled remotely, and in some cases, the LED indicator may not come on so you do not know the camera is on.

Well last night I was sitting in the Lopez bar late at night and it was only me and the bartender.
He brought me a beer and went back to the cash register to add the receipts.
There was no one around and all of a sudden I heard. "Nice haircut"
I let it go.
Next I heard "Nice shirt"
That made me wonder.
Next I heard "Nice wrist watch"
I had enough, called the bartender over and told him what happened and that I thought we were the only ones in the bar.
He said, "It's the peanuts, they're complementary".

They're usually pretty quiet. I'm glad to see they came out of their shell.:highfive:

I'm glad I have a dumb television to match it's owner. :D
I really don't like Google tracking everything I look up and the store sending me solicitous e-mails, but maybe that's just me.
I also don't like when you click on a site for buying a certain type car, the phone rings two seconds after, with a pesky salesman.
