I'm considering mini implants for 2 front teeth. Any dentist recommendations? Anyone have experience with mini implants?

Yes, I am one of those who can't stand going to the dentist. In fact I have not gone for years. Then I broke a tooth and went looking and talked with some friends. They recommended Royal Dental at The Villages, phone number (352) 751-4446. The dentist in Dr. German Gaitan who is a really good dentist and I highly recommend him. Alex

Pardon my ignorance, but what is the difference between a mini implant and a regular implant?

The difference is price.I have a regular implant and it was expensive. But if you look at both side by side you see the big difference strength. The metal post for a mini implant is a lot smaller then the regular implant.

What is the difference in cost of a mini implant and a regular implant? Has anyone had the mini implants and what are your thoughts?
Thank you.

Can you get implants for just the front teeth? My wife has been told she would need a whole mouthful if she wants any at all.

I just (today) broke a tooth and it will have to be replaced. It was one of those used as support on the bottem. Want Dentist to tell me what I should do, etc?

I am just researching mini implants so that a denture can be created to snap onto it. I was curious about costs. I definitely will need bottom and the top maybe just around the corner. Any advice.. recommendations... concerns... and costs... up front.. unforseen... etc...

I had an appointment this morning with Dr. Caylor in Laurel Manor. He pulled a tooth that had broken off a couple of weeks ago and also inserted an implant in another tooth that broke off and was pulled last year. He does a great job. I was able to eat a bowl of lukewarm soup within 3 hours and am here typing on my computer. I am on pain meds however.

I hate to "beat a dead horse" but I'm very curious about costs. I am looking for the mini implants (approximately 4) so that dentures can be snapped on to them. For a lower or an upper are we talking more than $10,000 for each or is it less? I'm trying to get a gauge as to cost before I make an appointment with a professional. I am appalled at what my doctor in NY billed for lower bridges (the whole bottom with the exception of the teeth to attach to). It was more than $20,000 and here I am looking to replace the poor job he did only two years later!

Now I am curious - if you have implants you can "snap" dentures on rather than having a plate? Sounds intriguing. FYI - I am in northern Georgia and have been quoted $3500 for each implant (regular not mini).

I have no experience yet with mini or other implants and such but I recommend Dr Gaitan at Royal Dental based on my recent visits with him and the staff. I believe you will find him very professional and honest to give you a best choice of options. The entire staff are great. I endorse them because of the way I've been treated as a person and not a number. If you are looking for info on dentist you can google their name for a complete bio. Hope I've helped.

That is $1000 to $1500 less than the going rate down here. Does it include the final crown?

Yes, includes everything unless you need a bone graft - haven't gotten that far yet.

Okay, thanks. The price I was quoted ($4900) included bone graft. I have the breakdown of the costs somewhere. It also includes the tooth extraction.

I was told that a regular implant was the way to go if you wanted it to last. Did you have your implant done here?

My wife just got an estimate from Dr Roca here in The Villages who specializes in pario and implants. $3400 plus $1600 to the dentist for the crown. She either needs a 3 tooth crown $3400 or an implant. Hygienically the implant is much better. However it can take from 4 - 8 months to complete the procedure. She is still weighing the issue.
I used Dr. Caylor to pull a tooth and prepare my other one for implant by placing bone in it. It does take a few months to get but the wait is relatively painless. You can eat just fine while the post is in there waiting for the crown. It's expensive but I wouldn't not do it because of the wait and pain because it was a non-issue for me. Make sure the doc takes the special x-ray beforehand to see just how deep he can put the implant without harming your sinuses that is key. Doctor Caylor did put me under for the implant insertion.

Dr. Dennis Davis at Village Periodontics specializes in dental implants and comes highly recommended. He is very thorough at explaining the procedure, has many years of experience, and will put you at ease. His staff is wonderful and caring. He is off 441 in Lady Lake.
