Admin has restored the Singles Forum so I was thinking........ so we don't get booted off again for lack of participation ...... in an effort to stimulate some more forum participation - how 'bout if each of us starts a new topic relating to single life in TV -- or single life in general -- support -- club activities -- etc. ;D

Good suggestion. Here's hoping that some of the Singles/Unattached/whatevers take you up on the offer. Although I am not, yet, a Villager (will be soon, though), it is obvious to me from visiting TV that there are enough of you (us) to have some interesting banter on this forum. The Villages Singles Club has a nice website (not updated too often) and their activities appear to be fun-filled. Their "Sunshine Outreach" branch is something that I would certainly participate in when I relocate to TV. Check out http://www.thevillagessinglesclub.org and then view the "Committees" link.
BTW - what Bronx HS?

I'm also a "wannabee" but not having any luck with my Oregon home/property on the market. However, when the time comes for me to be able to live in TV..... I would feel so much more comfortable having already made contact with and knowing exactly what my options are for making new friends. It's always daunting when moving to a new place and knowing nobody, especially as a single person without the support of a spouse.
I've already learned from this forum about the "Single Sports Social Womens Club" which sounds like a great outlet for activities and new friends, not just singles.
So, peeps......... start a new topic in this Singles Forum to keep it going ;D

ConeyIsBabe,
No doubt about it, you are correct when you state that "it's always daunting when moving to anew place and knowing nobody, especially as a single person". However, from what I have witnessed as a visitor, The Villages is a wonderfully friendly place where you should have NO problem making new friends rather quickly. Afterall, you've already begun doing just that.
Make sure you take Pickleball lessons because it's a fun sport. If you can line dance, that's a great way to introduce yourself and if you can't line dance there are lessons waiting for you. As a born and bred New Yorker, you can always sign up for the stickball games ... and just think, no cops to worry about. Now, now, don't say you can't hit a spalding with a broom handle.... of course you can and if not it's still a nice way to introduce yourself.
Yes, TV IS a special place where getting acquainted is easier than finding Nathan's in Coney. Keep in mind that residents of The Villages are the friendliest folk in the friendliest place.
But, I wonder if you're going to miss the dungeness crab of the Pacific Northwest. Yum-o as Rachel Ray says.

tkret...... unfortunately, 18 years of sitting at a desk job (in Miami) and not being active in sports has left me with knees & a back that are not strong enough for Pickleball or Stickball. However, what I like about TV life is that there are so many other options for anyone who is not athletic...... the swimming pools, taking classes at the learning center, taking trips with friends, eating out ......... Are there any sailing clubs in TV? ;D
And, I now live in a valley, in southern Oregon where fresh dungeness crab are not available (like in San Francisco) :'(. Another reason I want to relocate back to Florida is for the ocean only a 2-hour drive from TV.

I graduated from Lexington HS in MA. Moved to TV and found there was one classmate and one of my teachers that lived in TV. The teacher has since passed away and the classmate's wife passed away and he moved to another state to be with family.
My cousin lived in Dedham, MA after he married a native of the town. His wife Ginny (maiden name Cameron) attended school there. They had a kennel business for many years (home bred pups).
It's very likely that you may meet up with people you know, especially if you join the Southern MA club they have in TV. I understand that it's quite a large group. Since I'm from north of Boston and you're from south of Boston, you're more likely to meet people you know than I would.

Hello, again, ConeyIsBabe,
I'm sure that you have already checked out the following link; but, if not, check this out and see ALL the different activities available for residents:
http://thevillagesdailysun.com/content/current/sections/recnews.pdf
If this link doesn't work, go onto the Daily Sun website and on the left hand side click on "Recreation New" and there are about 20 or more pages of rec news and activities.
In addition, just about anyone can enjoy bocce. It's very easy and a great way to converse with others while your teammates or opponents are rolling away. I know of a few people who made long-lasting relationships with others because of signing up for the bocce games.
I surely hope your place sells soon and that you can follow your dreams to TV. Good luck.

HI All !
Just joined today, hoping to be in TV by Oct. I sent two emails to the MA residents as I'm from Danvers, MA. Let's start a Northern MA group!
My house has an offer, inspection was yesterday and hoping no revisions $$$ to offer or I may gamble in this game and refuse any price reduction if it is a cosmetic issue. Time will tell ...
Look forward to getting down there and having some fun and be debt free from the first time since HS! Being a single parent most of my adult life sure puts a burden on the pocketbook! I love my Boston Prof. sports teams, all things Patriots, Red Sox, and Celtics, BC for colleges also. I'm just a lifer when it comes to watching them.
Hope to meet with you when I arrive! Barb, aka nannie

Way to go Nannie!! Congratulations on selling your home. I think we may end up with a goodly number of singles before too long. And, of course, there are plenty of Singles clubs in The Villages.
Hey, not so sure if they sell "Skybars" in TV.... so, bring some down there.
I expect to be a resident within 9 months.
Congrats, again, and good luck with the move.

Barb /aka Nannie ........ Congrats on your offer! I hope you get your price.
I'm still not having much luck or interest in my FSBO, so I'll continue being a wannabee and live vicariously through all y'all's TV experiences ::)
It seems like most of the responders to this Singles Forum are from other wannabees. Before the old Singles Forum was dumped, I asked the question "where are all the TV singles"? cuz they weren't contributing to this forum. One response was that they're out having fun ! Still, it would be great to hear from them about some of the actual activities/outings/etc. If anything, it will inspire us single wannabees to get to TV sooner !

As a single and living full time in The Villages for 2 and a half months here are some of the things I have done in that time. I live in the village of Duval and have joined 3 social clubs that are Duval specific. I have gone to the regular monthly socials and met neighbors and have made friends with other Villagers, so far mostly couples, I have joined the Sumter Singles Club and have played in the single scrambles and luncheon after meeting other singles. I have attended the meetings of the club and am meeting other singles. here is their web site http://www.sumtersingles.org/index.html I will be attending other activities of the club. I have gone to see the shuttle launch with other singles. I get together with other TOTVers for dinner, lunch, and town square and KB entertainment. I think in the time I have been here I have gone out and socialized nore than I did the last five years when I was working, and this is because I have made the effort and put myself out there to participate in life.

Let's see -- last week: Played bridge with different partners three times; went over a friend's house for dinner; ran around checking homes, putting together beds, picking up golf carts, weeding, walking a dog and feeding a cat for clients; went to LSL with DickY to meet TOTVers for Johnny and the Rockets; went to SS with a buddy just to goof around; lounged at home all day Saturday; went to dinner and played games with friends on Saturday night; went riding around on my scooter just for the fun of it.
Basically, I do things with singles and with couples. If I'm invited to something that doesn't particularly interest me, I don't go. I my friends mention they are doing something that I would enjoy, I will ask them if I can become a fifth wheel. Sometimes the answer is yes, sometimes it is no. Either answer is fine and either way I find ways to enjoy myself.
I have told DickY he has to drag me to a singles club meeting. The only way I'm going to go to one but also something I think would be good for me. (In case anyone is starting to get the wrong idea, DickY and I are friends. Nothing more but if some single lady is interested I'd recommend her going for it. He's a nice guy.)
I've been here since last September. I haven't dated unless a very sweet breakfast with a very nice gentleman counted as a date. Heck, I haven't even danced with a male since living here but I have danced quite a bit. I have had some great times and some things that will be part of my memory forever (like the shuttle launch, driving down Buena Vista and having to stop because the sand cranes had taken over the road and weren't moving for love nor money, dinner with a dear friend and her husband, the TOTV get together where Kathie tried to kill me, etc.). None of these events were due to me being single. They all, however, were due to me be willing to go out alone, ask others to join me or just be willing to go.
I have met some very unhappy singles here. Every one of them had one thing in common -- they would only do something if they were specifically invited to join. It has meant many days and evenings home alone for them. If I'm home alone, it is my choice. I know darn well I can go to the squares and just sit and listen to music. If I want to dance, I can get up and join a group of women on the dance floor (so far, no one has told me to go away when I do this). I can walk around one of the many ponds and enjoy the nature I see there. I can sit on my lanai and enjoy my neighbors walking their dogs.
I have said this before and I'll say it again. Since moving to TV, I have yet to go a day without smiling at something.
Being single is only an impediment if you make it one.

DickY,
What a great website your provided! Sounds (and looks) like a wonderful group for the Singles Crowd. Must a member be a resident of Sumter County?
So, only two and a half months as a Villager. Sure sounds like you've been there a lot longer. Good for you and continue to have a great time.

As far as I know you just have to be a single villager to be a member. There is another Villages single club that meets on the North side of 466. Their calendar is not up to date so not sure about it. http://thevillagessinglesclub.org/

Hi ConeyIsBabe,
Thank you, I also retired on my birthday. Is't it frustrating waiting for your house to sell.I am so ready to move to TV. My mother was born in Brooklyn. I have only lived in Ma. so this move is big for me. I have been a single Mom for a long time. and now I want to do something different. Iwant to enjoy the rest of my life, and I think TV is that place.
The people there seem to be all so friendly and enjoy life.
Hope to see you when we get there.

I believe the Villages Singles club has dropped their old website, and has this one now:
http://www.freewebs.com/thevillagessinglesclub/calendarofevents.htm
(I'm not sure why they changed it.)
Next mtg is Monday July 7 6:30 at La Hacienda, and is a pot luck dinner.
I think you can either bring a dish to share or pay something (maybe $5.00? not sure about that)
New members can register and are welcome! Any questions - the officers names & phone numbers are listed on the site.

Moose....... I HAVE consulted a realtor from Help-U-Sell who suggested my "asking price" start at 450k, so I made a feeble attempt at a FSBO with a 30-day ad in the local paper and 2 internet sites, with no results.
The huge problem I'm facing is a glut of homes on the market in my area and the median sales price is around 250k. Most people are looking for CHEAP and are not willing to spend more for quality, charm & character -which my property offers. I've decided to hang out for another winter in the frozen tundra and when I'm really desperate I'll sign up with a realtor and ask a more realistic price, however I won't sell for less than I paid, regardless of the market. :dontknow: BAD TIMING ::)

Here is a solution! Go to the lender and get a 100% loan, then make one payment (to avoid fraud charges) and then just walk away. LOL, ok just kidding but its a scene being repeated time and again these days as some people discover they owe more on their house than they can get for it, thus they "can't afford to sell". Most prevalent of course in California, Miami Metro, and Las Vegas.

Hi CIBabe and all others,
I've been off the TOTV because I am currently in the Adirondack Mts at Long Lake. cell phone service is non-existant and the internet is only available when I can locate a WiFi.
Hope all is doing just great. Looks like I have a buyer for my home. Inspection went very well with NO additional corrections or improvements to be made. All parties are in agreement that a closing will take place next month.
So, ConeyIsBabe, instead of you holding a seat open for me at Town Square and the Singles' Clubs meetings, it looks like I'll have the pleasure of doing that for you.
Will soon be changing my sign-on from "Tkret" to "Gene" . Will "speak" soon if I can get another internet connection this week. The place is absolutely beautiful and I've got a great cabin right on the water's edge...in fact, that's the name of the joint, "The Water's Edge".
Take care of yourselves and really looking forward to meeting you all in person some day!

Greetings bestmickey, PJ, and, of course, CIBabe, and everyone
I had to cut my trip short because my dog (chow/shepherd mix) suffered an injury and I wanted to return to the southern part of NYS and have the vet take a look-see. It appears that he has torn ligaments but will recover. The poor guy is 15 years old and he slipped on some wet outdoor stairs falling back down the stairs. I sought out a vet at Long Lake but there was none and the closest was 22 miles away and not in the office for a couple of days. So, I thought it best to make the 5 hour trip back home. After some pain relievers and some arthritis medicine he is doing much better today. An examination showed no fractures or serious injury. He's always been such a mellow-fellow that I've referred to him as "the Will Rogers of the canine world" - he's never met another dog he didn't like!
bestmickey, I have returned temporarily to NYS after having lived in Colorado for 18 years and Arizona for 4. The Adirondacks are, indeed, fantastic and it's too bad that many people across the US believe that ALL of New York State is New York City. Couldn't be further from the truth as you know. Upstate NY is absolutely beautiful.
I very much appreciate your words of congratulations on the sale of my home. And, PJ, you are more than correct about getting it sold in this market especially when you consider that the house is in the Phoenix area. Didn't get anywhere near the price I wanted but still more than originally purchased for and enough to get to The Villages. The house is in an active adult community and was listed for close to two years...ouch! Due to some minor circumstances I won't be buying in TV for about 6 months but will be heading for a visit sometime in mid-September. Stay well.

Hi tkret/Gene ;) It's the dog-days-of-summer in s/Oregon and I'm still dragging hoses all over the property keeping the plants alive. This heat is not like Florida's humidity... it's very dry and I have to water twice a day.
My pet-Bambi comes to visit every evening, grazing on the grass near the greenhouse, around 8 pm and lately she has been hanging around near the house - she's not afraid of people unless you get very close to her.
I've been lurking mostly at TOTV..... nothing exciting or interesting to say. Country life -- beautiful but boring by TV standards ::) I'll post some Bambi pics in a while.
I hope y'all other singles are having a fun summer, so far ;D

C'mon peeps.........
Well, there are a few reasons I don't post a picture. First, I don't have a recent photo of myself. Second, I never like how I look in photos. Third, for security purposes I won't post a photo. I'm very security conscious. I think it comes from being stalked decades ago, before anyone ever heard of "stalking". For example, having posted that I'm single (and thus likely living alone), I wouldn't want my photo on here. Wouldn't want to be targeted and possibly followed (for a later break-in, burglary?) if there should be a "creep" who sees me in one of the squares (once I'm in TV).

Love reading all this good stuff on the singles site. Keep it up. I've been single for 33 years now. Brought up two daughters and even had a couple of really nice relationships over that time. I quite enjoy my freedom, but would love to have a soul mate to do fun stuff with like travel. I think that's called a "LAT" relationship - living apart together. How do all you single folk out there feel about relationships? Are you widowed, divorced, never married? If you could have your wish, what kind of relationship would you like to be in - or not? :-* 040

Peazoup..... my story is similar to yours..... single since 1966 and raised my kids alone and enjoyed relationships along the way. After all those years of being independent it has become my lifestyle of choice and with a s/o living apart, but very close-by has always worked for me ;) ;)

Peazoup, I've never married. I've had some nice relationships over the years. I have no desire to marry. I'm not saying it will never happen (I try to never say never), but it's not something I particularly seek, certainly don't need, and don't plan on it happening. I would like a monogamous "special" relationship with a man, someone to enjoy life's pleasures with. But, if that doesn't happen I'm fine alone, or "playing the field", or just hanging out with friends.

I really enjoy this much-needed thread.
I’ve been divorced for 27 years with no desire to remarry. Was in the party scene for about 8 years and had a few nice relationships.
I have had a long distance relationship for 20 years (my choice) which involved lots of fun, companionship and travel..
When I moved here 2 years ago, I decided to cool that relationship and spread my wings, although they haven’t flown anywhere since my move here!!!!! I agree with Peazoup. I think I would really like to have a "LAT", a soul mate.

Single for 22 years now. Had found my soulmate after my marriage. Truly had no real interest for a serious relationship since breaking up with my soulmate. I like dating, even semi-relationships (a few steps above friends with benefits) but really don't want any more. At present, I'm not looking, not trying to find and it would have to fall into my lap pretty dang hard for me to notice.

Isn't this interesting? I think years ago, when my girls were young, I would love to have remarried (my ex died not long after our divorce). I always dreamed of having the "Brady Bunch" kind of family. But, I guess it just wasn't in the cards. I would never say never, but now, especially after reading all the prenup threads, it must be a little complicated to tie the knot and wonder what the point would be at our stage in life. So, it seems we are all sort of in the same mind set - at least we ladies. How about the men? Who do you think are more prone to remarry - men or women and why? Let's hear it from you fellas. Don't by shy! We won't send you casseroles! :-*
Peazoup,
From my point of view. I'm really conflicted. I was married young and for over 30 years. Many times I thought being single or alone would be just great, but being single now for over three years I'm not so sure. Several people in tv have told me you don't marry you just live together. After reading all the prenup stuff on totv I guess maybe their right. It must be more complicated than I thought. But for me ,I hope I can find someone to share what ever time is left for me. Married or live together who knows. I had a best friend for 37 years and even though we bickered some we each knew the other would be there for them, and wherever we went we where never alone. My point of view is from a never divorced person.
From a selfish point of view. Cancer took 18 months to take my wife. I quit working and stayed home with her. I went to every Dr's appt, every chemo, every operation,a stem cell transplant, and was holding her when she passed. I'm proud of that, and think that was important, and i hope that when my time comes there might be someone there for me.
Besides that I think men need someone there to remind us what jerks we are sometimes.
And peazoup NO CASSEROLES ?

benj,
You have paved your way to heaven! How very sad to lose your other half after 30 years. I wonder if you ever get over such devastation. I always feel great compassion for folk who have lost their loved ones especially in their later years when you're supposed to "ride off into the sunset" together. It must be hard to think of another relationship after such a loss. There must be a whole bunch of others on TOTV who are in the same boat. Hopefully, you'll find another special person to keep loneliness at bay.
And now you've done it........ until then.............. expect casseroles galore

This is hard for me..but necessary. I was married young and over thirty years...I adored him. He had a brain tumor which we treated ( 3 craneotomies, max radiation, and much chemo) for 16 years. Jim always told the MD's to do whatever they wanted to him from Sept. to June, but Blondie and I travel in the summer so it was off limits. It worked until the last summer when the MD said you need to have more chemo---Jim said---see you in Sept. Sept came and he thought worse case scenario he would have another operation...but the tumor had crossed the mid-line of the brain, and surgery was not possible. He had more chemo, but come December, it was evident that further treatment was futile. I took off the next six months from work to be with him, and he died on May 31st (that was seven years ago). One thing I have learned is that no matter how badly your heart is broken, the world doesn't stop for your grief. Jim surely was my soulmate, and I can't imagine that anyone could ove me as much as he did....so I haven't dated. I don't want to sound morose, b/c I am one of the luckiest people I know. I have a beautiful daughter, wonderful son-in-law, and two of the best grandkids in the world. I love dancing, going out with friends, making new friends, and adventures....and I love TOTV, as it has opened up a whole new world to me. :)

mdblondie - hugs, hugs and more hugs. So sad. I'm sitting here at work with mascara running down my cheeks. I'm sure your wonderful family has helped you tremendously as you sound like you have great support to keep going. Bless you.
Blondie,
I'm not sure this is what Coney or Peazoup was thinking when they started this thread but ditto your thoughts about totv. I think sometimes that life's only been tough on me then I read posts like yours and (I know this sounds weird) it makes me feel better. This is the first web "forum" I've ever been on and I can't believe how many deeply personal things I've posted to perfect strangers. But thats the thing about totv and tv in general I feel a connection there even though I'm 2500 miles away.
So it's 7 years for you ? Do you ever start to feel better? Benj
Blondie
08-07-2008, 06:46 PM
Benj,
That's really hard to answer. I once read that "expecting life to treat you well because you are a good person, is like expecting an angry bull not to charge because you are a vegetarian." So I guess I try to focus on all the wonderful things I have rather than dwell on the fact that this shouldn't have happened to us. As you say, there are so many others in the world who didn't ever have what I had, and still have. You know no one can take our great memories from us, and I bet you have many wonderful ones as well. So, I guess I can say that, yes, it does get better. I am so looking foward to meeting all of the TOTV folks, and start another new chapter of my life. I'm scared but I know it's time to move on. When Jim died I had to reinvent myself so to speak...not easy for me. One thing I did was that I used to ride on the back of Jim's motorcycle, and when he died I got my own license and now I have my own. I am having it shipped down to TV in Sept.and hope to ride with the Motorcycle "Gang" down there. Doesn't that sound like fun? I have also signed myself onto the Cruise with TOTV----a very bold move for me. I hope I don't spend all my time in my cabin. :(
Anyway, I am very appreciative to you and all the TOTV folks for including me and making me feel welcome. Hope I can meet you soon, Benj----we can share stories about our soulmates.

Hi CIB and all,
I just returned today from TV :'( and tomorrow I will drive to LI NY to spend some time with my sister and her hubby. He has been diagnosed with cancer of the mouth, and will be operated on the first week of Sept. (prayers would be very appreciated).
I'll be back in MD this weekend and head to a soccer tournament (Grandson is playing in VA ) with my daughter, son-in-law, and grandkiddos---great fun--- :#1:
Then...back to MD...pack up the car....and head back to TV for two months. 040
I have such mixed emotions b/c my heart is breaking for my sister and her family, and I am praying that all goes well; however, I know they have a long road ahead of them.
BTW...I had such a wonderful time these past five days in TV meeting many new folks and talking to "old" TOTV friends. Stay dry my friends and I will see you soon.

My wife died of a throat cancer (among other things) 8 years 3 months and 12 days ago! Who said I'm counting?
After slightly more than 5 years of caring and coping, her passing was, honestly, a great joy for us both! Here I am now in TV, enjoying every minute and somewhat astonishing my up north friends who had thought I'd end up as a basket case! [No comments, please, from those of you who think I really am a basket case!]
I have a very good friend whose wife was killed 9 years ago in a t-bone car crash on her way home from her teaching job one afternoon, not a mile from their house. She was one of the most vibrant people I ever knew. Her husband retreated into a shell for a number of years, but now gets out and about and enjoys his solitary life, as do I!
TOTVers are here for you, as I think you already know!

Hi CIB & Others,
Yes, let's try and keep this open. I'm sitting at work in Connecticut with my countdown calendar to retirement push-pinned to my wall - 32 days. My house is still not sold, but I have tons of interest. Problem is the interest is coming from people who also have a house or condo to sell first. September promises to be better than August for real estate. Do you still have your home on the market? If not, try again this fall. I see a light at the end of the tunnel. Things are beginning to improve a tiny bit.
The weather is really nice here - high 70s to low 80s during the day dropping down to 60s at night. The petunias are starting to get leggy and the grass is not growing quite so fast. My hydrangea blooms have turned from magnificent bright blue to mauve on the topside and pale green on the underside. Signs of fall approaching.
Hope everyone in TV weathered the downpours. I feel badly for folk who planned vacation during the storm.
Can't wait to meet everyone whose names have become so familiar to me because of TOTV. My appreciation goes out to the many hours our hosts put in to make this happen. Thank you from a soon to be Bonnybrook girl.

Hi Peazoup...... :2cool:
I've got two questions for ya.......
Why did you choose Bonnybrook Village?
And about hydrangeas.... I need some advice on when/how to prune them. This year mine are not well. Either they got frostbitten in the spring, or someone (not me) pruned them wrong, cuz they never grew to be as large and lush as the previous years (like in my pic). So, do you know when is best to prune and should I cut back drastically or just prune to the buds?
Peazoup
08-27-2008, 05:25 PM
Hi CIB,
I chose Bonnybrook because I wanted to be close to 466 shopping and Sumter Landing. Also I had been surfing the different For Sale sites for a specific CYV model and found it in Bonnybrook. And, I wanted a resale as I didn't want to think about landscaping. Plus mine was an estate sale so it came completely furnished. There are some things I will change in time to suit my taste, but for the most part, the furnishings are very nice.
I don't know if this is true or not, but I have heard from a couple of different sources, that people living south of 466 tend to be the younger retirees and people living north of 466 tend to be older. Maybe we can get some comments on whether or not it's actually the case. This, however, didn't make any difference to my decision as I'm sort of in between. I have to say though that I really like the more mature trees and landscaping north. I didn't want the new construction because those homes are all electric and I love cooking with gas.
Now - hydrangea - DON'T PRUNE!!! Just cut off the old blooms. Hydrangeas bloom on old wood.

At some point, I'll have to give up trying to sell and get a tenant in till the market really picks up. I think it's beginning to pick up - this according to my real estate agent. Nice to see this forum staying alive. I will be in TV from the 12th thru the 16th meeting with two Realtors. I really don't anticipate anything but you never know. My original intent is to wait until Spring/Summer of '09 but it's important and helpful to see what's what now.

Peazoup, my plans are to go home at the end of October, put my house on the market, and hope it sells quickly. Then...come down to TV and buy a home. That is if the hurt in my heart b/c of missing my family subsides, at least a little.
PGB, I would love to ride with you. I think I read though that your bike won't be here until November. My bike is being shipped here, and hopefully will arrive this week. I have a Road King. I also love to dance, and have met some very nice folks at LSL.
If anyone is going to LSL or Spanish Springs or Katie Belles, let me know...we can dance.

mdblondie,
Thanks, I will try and get up with you sometime. I have a Sporster trike, conversion kit, and I really like my bike with the exception that it runs hot. All the stuff that's on it is probably the reason. Still, I'm looking forward to getting it down here. I was hoping to find some nice guy in the mean time to bum a ride with.
Have you joined the HOG Club at Gator Harley? The next meeting is the 13th. LOH at 12 and membership meeting at 1. If you would like to know I will be happy to give you a ride.
Nice finding another Harleyhen!
I have not joined any singles groups. I might if I find out more about them. I am planning on going to the get-together at Chrisper's and see what that's all about. The more people I meet, the more places I will have to go and the more people I will have to talk with!

My bike arrived tonight so I am going to ride it to the meeting place at 11:00 tomorrow, and hopefully ride to lunch with them. Why don't you meet us there tomorrow? Love reading all this good stuff on the singles site. Keep it up. I've been single for 33 years now. Brought up two daughters and even had a couple of really nice relationships over that time. I quite enjoy my freedom, but would love to have a soul mate to do fun stuff with like travel. I think that's called a "LAT" relationship - living apart together. How do all you single folk out there feel about relationships? Are you widowed, divorced, never married? If you could have your wish, what kind of relationship would you like to be in - or not? :-* 040
I'm a widow looking for a gal friend who enjoys movies, plays, exercising at a Rec Center, listening to music at the Squares, lunching at Katie Belles or whereever, taking day trips, and good conversation. Also would like to meet a male friend who would like to take dance lessons and enjoy some dinner & dancing dates. Coffee at Paneros is always a good place to sit and talk to determine if two people will "click" and have the same relationship expectations.

hi to the lady who was looking to meet friends and dates, and also to the wannabe.....i would suggest the best place to start is to join both the large singles clubs here. one is the villages singles and the other is sumter singles. you can get info on their websites.. another suggesstion is that you just go about joining activities which you enjoy and you will surely meet singles who share your interests...there is a singles dance oct 9 which i talked about on another post. if you are at the squares or at katie belle's and see large groups of ladies with just a sprinkling of guys sitting together, you can introduce yourself and i am sure they will be welcoming...just get out there and have fun....
