Can't answer your question but interested in any comments. My Direct TV went up another $7.50 today and I'm going over to speak with CenturyLink office about pricing of Prism.

Yes, what is quoted and what you actually pay is quite different. After you add the taxes and other charges you pay more that quotd

This oligopoly has corned the market and people will just frustrate themselves jumping from one company to another. In the end you will face the same issues. I ahve drafted a letter to my carrier outlining my objections from their rodict to their prices to their services...and yes I know it will end up in the basket but I will feel better

When I signed up with Century Link over the phone I was able to get the sales rep to agree to no shipping/installation/activations/etc charges. When the first bill came in there was a charge. A call got it reversed - not a big deal. Good company.

When we signed up we were quoted $115 for cable, Internet & 2 Dvr's. Got our bill, $140. When my husband called they said they didn't know where we got $115 from. We got it from the sales rep. Still $140.00 my next call will be to the sales rep.

First of all, I really, really like the Prism system. I do, however, feel that I was purposely misled when it came to pricing.
Pre-Prism I was getting my Internet from CenturyLink. I was very happy with the Internet service and was getting 5 Megs and then 10 Megs for Internet speed. More than I really needed, but the price was right. I was paying roughly between $32 and $34 a month. My TV service was then with Directv.
When I switched to Prism I decided that I was worth a little better package than I had been getting with Directv. I added what I'd be paying for Prism and what I was already paying for Internet, allowed for state taxes and fees and it came to about the same amount I was paying for the Directv and CenturyLink Internet. I thought, lets try something new!
What I didn't realize, and nobody at CenturyLink had mentioned, was that Prism needs a faster Internet connection to work properly. One would assume that this extra Internet would be figured into the Prism package price because Prism required the faster speed. WRONG! The Prism price is as quoted, but the Internet price increased by at least 52%.
If I were to make this kind of move again, I'd request a complete breakdown of pricing for Prism and Internet with taxes and fees and have it emailed to me. Of course, that's hind-sight being 20-20!
I still love Prism, but I have been left with a bad taste in my mouth. Come next November I'll try to negotiate some changes with CenturyLink. If I'm not satisfied, I left the Directv Dish on the roof and I have their DVR safely tucked away in a cabinet. I'll probably keep CenturyLink for Internet service, but will go back to the 10 Megs that I had been happy with. Oh, by the way, I get weekly emails from Directv pleading for me to come back at new customer pricing.

Watch out for their start up fees. Just wantd phone and Internet 1st bill was 150. More than expected. Didn't save any money by switching from comcast.

We were quoted a price in writing for 12 months of service. Because we are snow birds we were told that the package would really last for 18 months because we won't be here for 6 months. WRONG! The real story I found out was that when we leave we pay them $20 a month for the privilege of negotiating a new contract with them when we return. The sales rep at their store on Rolling Acres lied, probably to get his commission.

You might be able to save some money by dropping the phone service and going with one of the Voice-over-IP phones (uses the interconnect conenction) such as Ooma, Magic-Jack, Vonage, etc.

Had the same problem last year. They quoted us a lower price (over the phone), and when the bill came, it was much higher. Next time, will try Brighthouse and initiate the service at their local office and will get it in writing!

If you haven't already, ask to speak to a supervisor. Generally they are empowered to make you happy - might be able to work out a deal.

Century Link had a general price increase of $5.00 in January.
I saved about $40.00 a month by bundling phone, internet and prism. A plus was being able to use home phone for long distance.
Had Century Link home phone, Comcast for internet and Dish for TV.
Very satisfied with Century Link bundle.

I have found with Century Link that I need to call each year and renegotiate my monthly price. It goes up at the end of each year but if I call and speak with someone they reduce it again. I don't really like this tactic but I am otherwise happy with them.
The price they quote on the phone does not include taxes etc.

Yes, I have had the same experience. I just went with a new 12 month commitment and the internet bandwidth increased and the price dropped. I just need to call them once a year to see what the new deal is - I can live with that.

We use Ooma (it is a Voice-over-IP service - uses you internet connection) and have been happy. I find using a cellphone a bit tedious for work conference calls that can sometimes go for 2 hours.
