View Full Version : Sunnyhill Restoration Area
We will be on lifestyle preview next week, and plan to visit the Sunnyhill Restoration Area. Is any one familiar with it? It is just off 42 about 5.9 miles past Weirsdale. We have a map but it shows omly one entrance. Are there roads within the area, or just trails It is not clear. Would like to see most of it but cannot hike all the way, especially this time of year. 6 miles East of Weirsdale on 42 is a snap - maybe 20 minutes from Spanish Springs. Take 441 north and 42 East.
I have driven East of 42 a few times, it is mostly trees (believe jack pine). The trails into the Ocala National Forest from 42 are usually just sandy roads off the North side of 42. I haven't tried one but there are quite a few.
If you are in that area and have some time you might consider going another 45 minutes East and visit the manatees in Blue Springs State Park. Doesn't require a long hike and has a board walk along the creek from the springs to the St John's river.

Chuckinca, Thank you for the info on Sunnyhill area, and the web site on the springs on the St.Johns. Sounds like a really good place to visit. We will check it out. Rergards Larry
