;D

In case anyone is wondering, the POA, (property owners association) is not just grumps.

I have lived in TV for 6 years, and would not live elsewhere.

The POA gives me the rest of the story that the Sun omits.

Let's not forget the $40 million dollar settlement that they got for the recreational trails and centers on the North Side of 466.

Have lived in TV for six years and have great respect for the POA and their efforts to bring justice where necessary to keep the scales balanced.

Kudos to POA

I like that- "justice done" and "scales balanced". Although they appear combative on occasion they accomplish a lot.

I have been a village resident for 3 years. I have done a complete flip on the POA. They lack in public relations but they are the only group that isn't controlled. There are bloggers on here who will always think the developers are perfect. The grandchildren of the developer are far from perfect!
The POA is the reason my house has been resided for free. The POA is the reason my friends got a sink hole fixed. Rather than go on and on...let's just say they are the one group looking out for the residents.

I agree they are advocates for the things that slip through the cracks, happens everywhere, and I am glad they are looking out for us. No one is perfect, not possible. I do wish they would be a bit less combative, it might bring more TV folks into their camp.
I have a very hard time with the people in the group that received a large monetary reward for looking out for us. It should have been distributed, not given to individuals.

I believe the people who worked so hard and long for us deserve the monitary rewards. If they had not initiated this, we would have never known or gained what was ours to begin with. Their time is as valuable as anybody involved, in their effort to right the wrong. When you think of the large sum they won for us, it sure is well worth their remuneration.

Sometimes you have no choice but to be combative. The original plan of the POA, on the siding issue, was to work with the VHA. They laughed at the POA and told them they "didn't see a problem". Right now, the POA has asked the VHA for cooperation with serious issues with the Regional Hospital. The VHA has stated that they again, "don't see a problem". No matter what your politics or affiliations, you should never be ignored or treated like the wicked stepdaughter.

When The Hospital Taxing Authority was proposed several years ago the POA was against this unfair tax which would have affected only Sumter County residents. The VHA seemed to feel that the tax would be minor and was the "only" way The Villages Regional Hospital could be expanded to meet the medical needs of this growing tri-county area. The POA did their homework and kept folks informed. They invited all residents to meetings to hear both sides of the issue and to ask questions. The VHA stood quiet and took the position that the tax wouldn't kill us and it would benefit all. Unlike the POA,The VHA only invites dues paying VHA members to attend their meetings.

The question was on the ballot and it was rejected. It didn't take long after that, for the money to be raised without the tax and the expansion of the hospital was started and completed. The POA stuck to their guns and all residents benefited.

This was no small undertaking. Had the taxing authority been created Sumter County Residents would be paying the tax for as long as we lived here.

It's so good to hear positive comments about the POA. I've been a staunch supporter of this organization since learning of its existence.

It's encouraging to hear of those who appreciate their efforts. Yes, it's no easy task for them. Without any cooperation from the developer, the POA is remarkably dedicated to the cause of important issues needing "fixing." No matter how difficult, they hang in there and take the slings and arrows thrown at them and persevere.

Kudos to the POA. ......b

I never knew about this. One more good thing the POA has done. The list keeps getting longer of how the POA has helped residents.
