Now I didn't mean that kind of pot....What is your favorite plant to put in a pot on the lanai? House plant, herbs, flowering, tree? Do not really want leaves or flowers to drop. Thanks

:icon_hungry:The kitty loves the catnip,:icon_hungry:, we also have a pineapple plant, and some herbs. Got rid of the plants that drop leaves, way too messy.

We have a pot of multicolored petunias we picked up at Lowe's the other day. We also have a Christmas Cactus that blooms every year. We leave it out there all year long.

The plant choice should fit your lanai and your lifestyle...

What size pot would you like to use? (Ht x width or volume)

How much Height are you after? (Total, with the pot)

Screened in, vinyl or glass?

Facing N S E or W? Does the sun shine directly on the spot you want the potted plant, and if so, for how many hours a day?

Last but not least, how often would you like to water? Daily, weekly or monthly?

Neither of us likes yard work or gardening, except for the crotons in pots on the lanai. They are a joy!

We have a large ceramic pot filled with a giant snake plant. The plant was recently transplanted into this large pot. It is so heavy after I water it that I can't pick it up to spill out the excess water from its plastic saucer. I have to get a towel and soak it out! The snake plant has many stems and the plant leaves are over four feet tall. It is a fine specimen. We love it.

I keep a planter full of orchids ( about 15) on our screened lanai. They are thriving! I did bring them in when it was in the 30's last week.
