Please note that the article states at the bottom that the aspartame part was not written by Gessner, but transcribed by her. Her only work was the part about water.

This is not to discount what was said, but there is no attribution that can be followed up.

Every evening I say to myself.

Self, do you want a diet coke or a Martini?

I know I have nearly killed myself dancing on tables and tripping over things with a couple Martini's.

So I choose the diet coke.

We all have to go some way.

And now for the rest of the story

Besides that, Jack Daniels neutralizes all dangerous substances.

Also note that the article ends in a link to purchase some $4 thousand water purifiers.

And I thought Scotch was the great neutralizer......:highfive:

Just because aspartame is said to be safe doesn't mean that drinking soda is good or neutral for your health. Here's a link in case anyone thinks that drinking soda doesn't have any down side.

In much of New England, all carbonated beverages (coke, root beer, etc) are called "tonic" except ginger ale which is called ginger ale.

It's "soda pop" but it makes sense to shorten it to "soda". My mother used to call it "sugar water"....:icon_wink:

Everyone should know that water is the best drink as it makes all one's organs function better and it is the best source of hydration. Some people may want to drink Gatorade or Pedalyte but for diabteics, Gatorade has too much sugar in it.

I have being using Asparmetane for years and I'm sure for some people, it's is not the best artificial sweetner. Some people has said that regular sugar is less harmful for diabetics but I personally don't agree with that train of thought.

As with everything else, everyone needs to be somewhat careful of what they ingest. This type of article reminds me of the worst case scenario being imposed on the mass population like someone saying I won't wear seat belts in case I have an accident and my car catches on fire and the oft chance my seatbelt won't be able to be released. How many accidents are there where the car catches fire? Very few and far between.

I am sure this is true of the person in this article but to blanketly say everyone will be affected in this way, is the exception and not the rule. IMHO

BTW - It's soda for those in the northeast.

POP is a name for an elderly person, who deserves respect. Call me POP! :D

Agree. Except for the soda part. Soda is seltzer water plus favored syrup plus a scoop of ice cream. Yum!:throwtomatoes:

"Please walk briskly and get your father a soda and open it for him. And don't spill it because they cost 25 cents each."

Or as they say:

"Pop over and get your pop a pop and pop the top, and be careful cause they cost two bits a pop."

They? THEY? THEY? You mean us Southerners? The ones that still open doors for everyone, including Northerners? The ones that still say "sir" and "mam"? Can't we all coexist??? ;);)

Interesting article regarding diet soda that uses aspartane. But some use Splenda in their diet soda. Following surgery a few years ago, my nutritionist recommended Diet Rite soda with Splenda in it. We have been drinking it every since---in moderation of course.
