checked with Laurel Manor to see if they participated in Silver Sneaker program and they said NO....Hmmm!....Our Villages United Healthcare coverage does not allow us to use fitness centers associated with the Villages....I don't understand, please enlighten me. I'll certainly add this to my Village Resident Survey.

Isn't it called "Silver Sneakers"? ...A fitness program for seniors that Medicare pays for.

I think if they participated in Silver Sneakers, the health clubs in TV wouldn't be able to handle the influx. They're crowded already.

If you Google Silver sneakers, you will find several location just outside the villages, one is 24/7 fitness about 3 miles north of wildwood on rt 301. I found the same thing when I went to MVP. Also, my wife is covered for this benefit, buy my coverage does not cover this, will probably change plans next time.

You are probably correct in your assumption. I was told that's what happened at a local YMCA where I currently live. It became so overcrowded that they eventually stopped the program.

How much does it cost to use the TV rec center fitness facilities?

As with any insurance, this seems like you either pay a higher premium for more benefits, or you just pay for the service/facility yourself. I can't imagine that it's costly to use the TV fitness centers.

It's silver sneakers and United Health does give those benefits. Women may join Curves which is in Lake Sumter and both men and women can join 24 fitness. There are at least three locations very close to Villages. You may go as much as you want, you pay nothing. 24 fitness has everything the Villages fitness centers have and more. Only thing is you can not get there by golf cart. You may use Curves and 24 anywhere in the country if you travel.

Wish there was an LA Fitness, I bet a lot of Villagers still have lifetime memberships to Jack LaLanne's aka Bally Fitness, aka LA Fitness.
