Wimbledon tennis today

Did anyone happen to catch the Championship tennis match today from Wimbledon? If you missed it, you missed a great one. You didn't even have to be a tennis fan to know that this was something special. Although there were two rain interruptions, the total combined playing by these two athletes was just shy of 5 hours. I really enjoy football, baseball, and hockey but I doubt if most of those athletes could endure a 5 hour individual contest!

Great match..but I was rooting for Feder...cannot taking anything away from Nadal...I just wonder how NBC's ratings were!!

I watched from the third set/match/round(?) to the end. I was rooting for Federer - only to see him get the 6 wins. Both deserved to win. And surprising the pace of play was pretty quick with very few commercials which made it more enjoyable.

Hate to say it but it beat the heck out of baseball, football, and basketball with all those stupid TV timeouts and end of game stretchers.

Not that I will become a tennis fan. I only watch the Wimbledon single finals - men and women.

That match was unbelievable...I too was hoping Federer would win, but I was happy for Nadal. I also agree they were both great sportsman. :bigthumbsup:

I too was rooting for Federer. Funny how we root for the superstar to continue their domination (think about Tiger's tv ratings). I was also just rooting for a winner so i could get out and enjoy the day! It usually ends just after noon but with the rain and the 5 sets it didn't finish until 9:18 English time. They would have had to finish today if it had gone on for much longer.

I enjoyed watching. Now, if there had not been a couple of delays, would Nadal have had the stamina to win? It could have made the outcome different. Strangely, I seem to always root for the underdog! WTG Nadal! :bigthumbsup:

If Nadal did not win the final game, it would have been an absolute SHAME to delay the outcome of the tournament until today. However if you ever tried to play tennis at twilight, believe me it is tough and the ole eyes start seeing (or should I say missing)things and I cannot imagine what it would be like with serves comming at you 120MPH. I think the BRITS need to rethink their scheduling not to ever let that possibly happen (but then of course its tough to predict rain delays)

What a match. I was trying to pack up my kitchen. Heaven only knows what's in the boxes because I was glued to the tv. I too was rooting for Nadal because he was the underdog. Hope I find some "social" tennis players when we get down there. I love to play but cannot play in leagues because I am still doing consulting and travelling. The round robins will work for me if they are readily available and people go to them.

As a lifelong tennis player and fan, I too, thoroughly enjoyed this match. The quality of play was outstanding and the character of the participants admirable. I was rooting for Federer....he is the king of Wimbledon and Nadal the king of the French Open. I preferred to keep it that way. It was so close, either player could just as easily have been victorious. Congrats to Nadal for winning and improving his game on grass. Also, congrats to Venus Williams on her fantastic tournament and victory over little Sister.

See, even a boring sport like tennis can have the drama of a Super Bowl.

I enjoy when the sisters compete. I have been a Federer fan, in past tournaments. I enjoy watching, but I can't play tennis at all. >:( .........when are the ping pong championships?
