I just watched Jenn in her try outs for the Olympics. She looked real nervous on his first jump. It was windy. On the third jump, Jenn set a US record. :#1: :#1:
She reads this blog along with her parents and grandparents. I saw her grandparents a few weeks ago and they all said "THANK YOU" to the Villagers.
Please keep her in your positive thoughts as the World record is held by a Russian and Jenn has a huge task to represent the US against such tough competition.
Again a big "Thank YOU" from Jenn and her family.

Jenn, breaking the American record is a huge accomplishment. Given your background, it is truly miraculous. Win, lose or draw, we are so very, very proud of you. Go show the world what Americans are made of -- gracious in victory and defeat. Most importantly, have fun at the Olympics!

If you do read this Jenn - congratulations. Enjoy the experience for what it really is as it will seem like it's over before it even begins. It's nice for us to have a 'connection' to the games.

Thanks you all and anybody else who wants to give a shout out. I know Jenn's parents and grandparents read this and show it to Jenn. I also know she is very nervous and this is her first time with all the intense media and competition.

Her DAD said she says "Thanks" and apparently all the good wishes are working. You are a part of her team. Thanks again!

The Russian set a world record today. :(
The article is on the last page of the Sun today.(July 12,2008) Jenn Stuczynski has her name mentioned.

Whether Jenn breaks world records or not is truly irrelevant. So is winning the gold. Those are bonuses. To have come so far, to have worked so hard, to have attained so much, that is why we are rooting for her. To have done all of this in an out-of-the-way place, without the best equipment, to be as gracious is she appears to be, that is why we are proud of her.

Jenn, no matter what the outcome, we'll be cheering you on and will be thrilled when we see you at the Olympics. You may not be a hometown girl but you're one of us nonetheless.

Saw that article mcelheny. This looks like the same AP article but from the Minneapolis Star Tribune http://www.startribune.com/sports/24532854.html Have to root for the Americans though to reclaim the world record or at least give the Russian some competition.

Good luck Jenn in Beijing.

Our little town up North is selling posters of Jenn Struzynski to raise money for her parents. The money will be used to help with expenses for her parents to go to China to see their daughter pole fault in the Olympics.
Plus through her parents she said "Thank You" to all her supporters here.

Thanks Shirleevee and Tal,

I hope she does well . She has come so fast that she doesn't begin to have the experience of most of the pole vaulters at the Olympics. Our little town is fund raising to help send her parents to China to see her jump.

Again, I will make sure her parents see all the shouts outs on this blog.
I will say again, Jenn is the most down to earth nice person!

update:
1) The USA newspaper picked Jenn for a silver medal.

2) Our small town sold posters and t-shirts to raise money for her parents to fly to China. It was their first trip in an airplane!!

3)Jenn wants everyone to know how touched she is by all the support.

Thank you Jenn for bringing home the Silver to the USA! :clap2: :clap2:

I totally disagree with the one writer just quoted. Your parents told me how hard it was for you as the only one USA jumping with three Russians in a Communist country. :(

Please know you made the USA proud.
Thanks for all your hard work.

I've been misquoted so many times, in my professional life, I must add that the media often gets it wrong. You need to take it all with a grain of salt. The media always has an agenda, and want to make a story compelling. Conjuring up a big rivalry is right up their alley. Whether or not it really happended, or to the extent that the article claim, is anybody's guess. But I'd like to congratulate Jen on her Silver. She has been in the sport a short amount of time, and to win an Olympic medal is absolutely fantastic!
