Does anyone know of a place to rent in the NC mountains besides the cabins where the rent is so high for an extended time? Thanks for any help.

Not sure - but if you haven't toured The Biltmore -
In Asheville - I believe is a must!

Asheville isn't in the mountains-its hot in the summer--if you want to cool off--its Boone or Blowing Rock

We rented a large cabin in Boone last Thanksgiving via Blue Ridge Cabin Rental 855-626-6868 and were very satisfied.

yep, we love the "high country"....far less expensive than Cashiers/Highlands and Asheville. IMHO prettier too.

Depends on the time of year. Summer is high season for these rentals since it is family vacation time. I currently live in Blue Ridge Ga after renting for a month last March and have stayed in Maggie Valley in my motorhome. If you could give a little more info as to when and what you are looking for I might be able to give you some advice.

Google "Top of the Falls Realty" to find summer rentals in Brevard, NC

sunny46, are you going for scenery or coolness/scenery? The Boone area is much cooler in the summer than Asheville to Franklin due to it's higher altitude.
