Pat and Dave on the Executive have asked me to post this meeting notice:
Hello Folks
Can you believe it! ..... Our season is almost over and most of us will be returning North in the upcoming weeks and are looking forward (hopefully) to much better weather than our family and friends have endured this past winter.
Our last meeting of the season will be held on April 8th at 6:30 PM at the La Hacienda Rec Centre, Carmen Miranda Room. The doors open at 5:30 p.m. Please wear your badges and bring your own beverages and snacks.
New members are most welcome!
Our special guest will be Wallace Wyllie, General Council and Bob Slack, President of the Canadian Snowbird Association. Bob will be sharing the latest developments regarding the legislation that the CSA is working on trying to get us more time in the United States – although the JOLT act did not get through the previous congress the CSA continues its quest to have the Retiree Visa become a reality.
Bob will also be addressing the conflicting reports we have gotten from Medipac and an agreement that may or may not be in place with The Villages Regional Hospital – we alerted Bob to the statements made by Saad Ehtisham [CFO Villages Hospital] who was one of guest speakers at our February meeting.
Bob Slack, President of the CSA has informed us that he has some special awards he will present that evening commemorating the completion of the Canadian Loonies and Toonies 5th year as a club.
We will also hold our formal elections for next years’ executive as both positions [President and Secretary –Treasurer] are open for nominations as both Pat and Dave, who have been in those roles from day one, are willing to continue but would gladly step aside if someone else would like to assume the mantle.
We ask for your support for the Wildwood Food Bank with donations of non-expired - non-perishable food items as well as donations of used clothing or household items for the Shepherd’s Lighthouse, in Belleview, Fl. This is a good time of year to clear out any of these items before heading for home.
Mike Palma, “Just Mike”, will be on hand once again with his musical stylings to entertain us and to get us all up dancing. What a great way to finish off the season and to say; “so long until next season” to our Canadian snowbird (seasonal) friends!
Some of our Canadian friends, from Harbor Hills, are once again hosting their Canada Eh!!! Golf Tournament on April 12, 2015. It is a lot of fun.
