I need help..... What is this Bird of Prey's name?? It was in our tree eating another bird this afternoon. It stayed in the tree long enough for me too get my camera for a Pic. Any help out their????

Just a guess. I think it's a female Cooper's Hawk or possibly a Sharp-Shinned which is smaller than the Cooper. They find bird feeders easy prey.

I'm no expert, but it looks like a Northern Goshawk to me. I'm not even sure if they range this far south, but just my two cents. :)

Are you sure it isn't a Southern Goshawk? We northerners do immigrate periodically.

Looks like a close twin to our Red Tail Hawks in Missouri.

I got the book>Birds of Florida from my neighbors, & looked it up. It's a "Sharp-Shinned Hawk" It does not breed in Florida, but migrate from September-to-April in Florida. Talk about a Real Snow Bird, this is one of them. :laugh: :laugh:
