A friend of mine had one and where they lean their head back the gel or product from their hair faded the color off the leather. Not sure if this would happen to 100% leather?

Approx. 3 years old. Disgusting!!! Peeled, cracked, came off on skin, I would never, ever buy bonded "leather". What junk......and listen to the scam salesmen when they tell you how great it is!!!! What a scam!!! However, and unfortunately, it is very hard to know for sure if it is real leather until you have it for a year or two.
Keep in mind...real leather is very expensive. If you find a "leather" couch for $1500... chance are it is bonded. There's a new name for it now to....but I can't remember it. Just beware when buying leather.

Dad's lasted about 15 months but he does sweat alot. As a compromise with the new chair he got real leather any part of the chair his actual body touches. The back is the only part that is bonded leather. This chair is a little over a year old and still looks brand new.

Our's lasted 3 years and then started peeling all over, especially where my husband sat. We didn't even realize we had purchased bonded leather. When we moved in 4 years ago, we purchased from Showcase Direct in Spanish Springs and thought we were buying leather. Haaa...now we know. We found a real leather couch we loved up in Blockers in Ocala. Great customer service and a great price.

Mine also was about 3 1/2 yrs. mine was on the recliner part of a sectional where my legs touched. Since the back side is against a wall I had an upholsterer take fabric off the back and recover the portion that was peeling. When I purchase a new sofa it will not be bonded leather ever again (although I didn't know that this was bonded....the price certainly didn't reflect it)

Stay away from bonded leather. My love seat lasted about 2 years and then it pealed away where my arm rested and my head was. Several years ago there was a post about this same thing and a furniture repair person answered and said to never buy bonded leather. There is no repair. He recommended only real leather.
Bonded many times has different names to hide what it really is. Make sure what you are buying is actually leather.

My experience came early and cheaper. Found out to never buy bonded leather men's belts. Check to make sure you were not sold bonded leather under a false leather claim.

Our custom leather couches were made in Canada. That was 22 years ago, and still look good. Bonded is not the way to go

We put a bonded leather/leather couch in our lower level rec room about 10 years ago. It got a work out and is still going strong. However, the only part that is bonded leather is the back/sides and the rest is leather. The combination has been wonderful for us. Not sure if they still make them, but the cost was less than all leather and you can't tell the difference between the two fabrics even after this length of time.

I can definitely vouch for having a sofa & love seat that looks like leather but sure is bonded leather..my husband & I bought the combo in January 2009 from SIMS Furniture Galleries in Leesburg for $2500 bucks, it was very comfortable seating..however it started peeling within 5 years and the warranty was up then & the original store that we bought it from went out of business!!! The tag underneath reads: Polyurethane foam 88%; Resin treated textile clippings pad 12%; Seat cushions Polyurethane Foam Resin Treated 85%; Polyester Fiber Batting 15%; Pillow Polyester Fiber 0%....
never again will I buy a BONDED SOFA that was made in China!!!

After having a bad experience with bonded leather and having to throw away a love seat that was only a couple years old we wanted to replace it with one with real leather. Bonded leather comes in many different names to hide what it really is.
We ended up buying at Leather Gallery on 441 and have been very happy with our selection. Our genuine leather is leather in all areas that the body contacts and bonded in areas such as the back which is against the wall and gets no wear.
