I can remember when if you wanted to send something really important you sent it Fed-ex. Not anymore. Recently anytime we have gotten packages delivered by Fed-ex they just dump them at the door.
We shipped two clubs Fed-ex from the villages. First they claimed that Sat they couldn't deliver as we were not home. We were home all day waiting for the package. Did they call the phone number on the label, No they didn't. I called and they said they would redeliver but couldn't do it till Tues because they don't deliver packages on Mondays only letters. Said maybe they had the wrong house as their trucks don't have GPS. A delivery company without GPS in the trucks, makes no sense. Sitting here waiting for the package and I hear a thud and a slam. The thud was the clubs hitting the deck the slam was the door of the van. Did they ring the bell, No, did they call our cell to say it was delivered -NO. The package was insured and they didn't have us sign just dumped it. The package I got Sunday was shipped by Amazon via the US post office delivered by them on a Sunday, they rang the bell and waited for me to answer, Boy have things turned around.
Long and short of it don't use Fed-ex UPs or even the post office is doing a better job.

I believe in venting frustration as you've done here. But maybe contacting FedEx directly would be more productive. E-mail FedEx (http://www.fedex.com/us/customersupport/email/index.html)
I have noticed that USPS, UPS, and possibly FedEx have used subcontractors in private vehicles and golf carts delivering packages to the door here. I don't know if they subcontract door deliveries in other parts of the country, but that could be part of the problem. I'd write them.

I wrote a letter to the Postmaster General once on ways to improve mail service. It got lost.

Online shopping is so easy and convenient.
I love Fed Ex and UPS and anyone who delivers parcels to my door!

Another profound statement from you. I will joyfully steal it.

My experence is Fed-Ex and UPS is way more efficient than the "Pony Express". However, any of them can have a "poor" employee and they should be reported to their proper supervisor.

As a retired Fedex-er, I apologize for the treatment of your delivery. Please know most of the employees truly do care about customer service and getting the job done right and to the customer's satisfaction. But remember, I came up in the days of Federal Express and the company has gone thru many, many changes. For instance, Ground and Home Delivery are not paid FedEx employees, but contractor's as someone noted above. They buy their own trucks and routes. Not implying they are bad, any I've known were great and very conscientious. Unfortunately, you said "van" tho and mentioned letters being delivered which leads me to believe it's Express, so again I apologize for your misdelivery. If you paid the premium for Saturday delivery that package SHOULD have been reattempted Monday. They do not usually call after a package has been delivered tho, unless you set that up with them when you called the 800#. You did call the 800 number with your concerns, I hope? If this was truly a FedEx mishap, and that package was left without a signature and thrown at your door you will at least be refunded the cost of shipping (I get that wasn't the point, you wanted your package) and that employee will be questioned. I've seen terminations for this, if it is a repeated occurrence. They DO NOT allow packages requiring a signature to be left (without repercussions) unless you authorize it.

I didn't realize it was subcontractors. I did call the 1-800 number on Sat when the package was showing online that we were not home when we were. I have called them before to no avail. The trucks say Fed-ex on the side so I assumed Fed-ex employees. We did pay for Sat delivery and I assumed as we insured it that they would attempt a signature.
I just remember back when Fed-ex started how great they were and now In my opinion they are falling behind their competition. I have redelivered many packages to neighbors in the past year that have been left at my door, I have the first house on the corner so they just dump them all on my porch, most at holiday time. A neighbor said that he checked my porch every day while we were gone and redirected three himself. When the house sells the neighbors will be SOL if the new owner isn't inclined to redeliver mail.

OMG!! How rude!! You absolutely must call the 800# (please) and let them know of those shenanigans. That is reprehensible and certainly DOES tarnish the reputation some of us worked very hard to build!! Me for 25 years and my husband for 33! The core of FedEx is customer care, and again I apologize for your experience. It is (as jobs go) a great place to work and we just never knew employees that would act like that...for long, at least...hint-hint. But really, if it was a van and said FedEx Express on the side, I am shocked even more so. Maybe I shouldn't have retired, apparently the place went to hell in a handbasket without me...hahaha!! JK
I hope you give us another chance and your next experience with FedEx is a good one. My pension check depends on it...no-no, kidding again. :) Take care!

It is the great service you brought that built Fed-ex in the first place which is why I am so disappointed in the way the company at least in our are has gone in the last few years. I have called the 800 number but maybe I should start taking pics and should write a snail mail letter with them attached so they know I am not just some nut. (Ok you who know me know I am a little nutty but not in this case.)

 Good idea...that might work, and Thank You. I really did put my heart and soul into that job. Most of us "oldtimers" did.
Speaking of snail mail, a little trivia. Did you realize that the Overnight service the PO offers is flown to it's destination via FedEx aircraft?? It's true. One of the first trucks launched when the planes land is one to the PO with their Overnight packages. Cray-cray, huh?

IMO when you pay for service it should refundable in not completed. Naturally the contractor said no one was home. That's get out of jail free cause they know it's hard to prove.
I would be ****ed also if I paid extra for faster delivery. Usually they are under so much pressure in day with probably too many deliveries is why they throw and run. At least ups will ring the door bell. But, they are running for the next delivery and gone by the time I get to the door. Not delivery guy fault iIMO but company management over stocking truck routes. IMO they need to reduce management and have more driver's and sorter that actually keep the company going IMO.

I agree with Trudy M. We ordered a 9.5 foot Christmas tree in December 2014. We were able to track it all the way to the Orlando-Ocala transport and, during that trip, it "disappeared." I was told I had to wait 14 days from them to look into the missing tree. After 2 weeks, it was still missing, and the vendor replaced it (I think they were reimbursed by FedEx). Sadly, our tree arrived after Christmas. Do you think there may be an employee who has a new tree...maybe, maybe not. FedEx said it may have "fallen off the truck"....mighty big box to simply fall off the truck....

HA...nothing we haven't thought and said to management. Less chiefs, more indians...we knew how to actually DO the job, not plot our efficiencies...ha! AND, it is usually easy to get a refund, just ask. I did it all day long, we were told to. But the point is: they wanted their package...they were willing to spend the $$, so that's little consolation when the job gets botched. I'm not gonna say there aren't mistakes or overlooks or down right screw-ups, but thankfully those were few and far between. Unfortunately, that's what the injured party remembers, as would I.

Imagine saying that to a customer? NEVER!! How stupid!! And I fervently hope if someone is stealing they are fired. That's one offense you only got one shot at. A theft, and you're out. So sorry, what a day for a screw-up...Christmas. Both my husband and I worked many a Christmas day. I had no children, so volunteered, so my co-workers could stay home with theirs. We went in and went thru every package to get anything that remotely resembled a present or was perishable out to the customers, regardless if it was due yet or not.
