I don't know if anyone else has this problem, but when I come through the Sunset Pointe guard gate as a resident and a visitor is at the same gate but on the visitor side the guard lets them through the same time as I am going through. Thank G_d there has not been an accident but this is not the first time this has happened. I have called and complained numerous times and nothing is being done to prevent it.

Has anybody have a solution as how we can fix this problem?, or to we have to wait until an accident occurs.

I think the guard needs to be more alert. I come thru the Santiago gate and this situation presents itself more often than not but fortunately, the guards will generally hold the gate closed for the visitor. I don't know what training the guards go thru but the personnel at your gate definately needs more. :cop:

I actually had to slam on my brakes so that the visitor could go first -- lawn guy in a big hurry. I turned around as soon as I safely could and read the gate guy at Sunset Pointe the riot act. He'd "never thought about it!"

It seems the old guy trains the new guy and the old guy either didn't know that the resident should be all the way through before the visitor is let in or is seriously lacking in common sense. I hate watching the DUH factor in action.

Haven't had an experience like this yet but can picture in my mind how serious the issue can be. Wow! Who do the gate personnel report to? Security? Maybe it's a matter of finding their supervision and spelling out the issue.... (Or is this a silly and naive suggestion?)

a little off topic, but!!!! :cop:

The other night Village Watch was at my house because of an incident that occurred..Some one was on my lawn at 11:00PM with either a rider mower, or three wheeler..The noise was extremely loud..

Kathi summoned Village Watch, and I called the Police..

The Village Watchman walked all around my property, with just a flash light in hand..What if there had been someone in the bushes??? Why are they not armed???

Noni,

We had two radio cars here, and the Village Watch..They never found him..The Police staged at the pool, so they could see who went by...Guess he was never found!

Kathi told the Police she heard the guy, when she was on her way to my house..Sounded like a loud scooter..

Donna,
Did they cut the lawn for free?

Very interesting. :dontknow:One is basically saying the gate guards don't have enough common sense not to let visitors come through the gates at the same time as the residents and another wants to have the community watch armed? Unless I'm mistaken both the gate guards and the community watch are one and the same organization. Can't imagine having this group armed and if they were what the cost would be to train and retain. Security is the issue here and I'm surprised the community watch took a flashlight and checked before the police arrived. The main thing was the incident was reported and there was response. Good for you and us Donna. Thanks. Too many don't want to make the call or get involved even if they witness a problem. There are no problems if no one reports them.

I agree with Ooper....Santiago guards are fabulous! There is never an issue when we go through...in fact they are one of the only ones I see actually having a conversation with a visitor at the gate.
PS...Ooper....see you are from Oswego....we are in Rochester...atleast for a couple more weeks....then TV here we come!

Still off topic but... Donna... are you sure it wasn't the bug sprayer. TV spray about that time a couple times during the summer and it sounds just like you described. And Mariab, we'll be heading north to Rochester in a few weeks to marry our daughter off. Hope the snow is gone!

I will say that the guards at Santo Domingo, Santiago and Orange Blossom are truly awesome. They're friendly, know what they're doing and truly helpful. Actually, I've found most of the guards to be that. It is just a few that have no common sense and let everyone through at once.

Donna, I'm so glad everything was okay. Would hate to think of anything bad happening to you.
