I'll be staying in TV May 10-23 in the village of Chatham. Will be taking a friend to dinner for her birthday and would like some of you pros to tell me where to take her. She loves prime rib. I will probably have privileges at the country clubs included with my rental if that makes a difference. Thanks for your help.

Lopez for country club
Cody's tavern for the best prime rib in town (my opinion)
Fiesta Grande in Colony Plazza for authentic south of the border.

The Legacy Restaurant at the Nancy Lopez Country Club will probably deliver the best experience (IMHO). (352) 753-1475

Last time I checked, Lopez did not have prime rib.

Lopez steak night on Thursday is excellent. By the way anyone can go into any country club here in The Villages. Enjoy.

Can't go wrong with either Lopez or Havana. Both are excellent.

For a lunch that shows off TV, Belle Glade is perfect. Sit outside and see the prettiest view of a golf course that I've ever seen ( except, of course, Pebble Beach). Good food, good service and a view to die for. Even if you don't go with your friend, be sure to check it out while you're here.

You will be in Chatham which is on the northside. Lopez is adjacent. It's a no brainer. We live in the mid-Villages and Lopez is our special event place.
You might want to drop by the day before to make arrangements for dinner.

Now that's some recommendation!

Be careful a country club on their menu says" prime rib genuine angus choice"--if its choice can't be prime

If she really loves prime rib, the best for miles around is Monday at Alfies North on 25. Zero atmosphere, prime rib for 2, about $30 and you will have enough left over for lunch the next day.

My experience is that Prime Rib is about 75% fat and 25% Beef and Bone. Stopped going there long ago. May be different now but for the price they charge you can't possibly get such a huge slice of Prime Rib that's any good.

We go with friends to Alfies. They & hubby love the prime rib. Hubby has enough to bring home and have it for dinner the next night. I'm not a prime rib lover. I get their 2 lbs. of snow crabs. They are delish !!

Cane Garden prime rib night on Tuesdays. Much better than Cody's IMHO. Always crowded on Tuesdays though since it is so darn good!

Look @ the Cane menu, my ? is How can a choice cut be considered Prime ?

It's a bit of a misnomer. According to wikipedia, "While historically known as a 'prime rib', the USDA does not require the cut to be derived from USDA Prime grade beef."

Technically correct, but my guess would be that a Prime Rib from cattle graded prime" would be a lot better than the poor excuse most restaurants get away with. The cheaper the price the lower grade beef you can bet it is, even if it's accurately called "prime rib". You get what you pay for!

In this case; choice is the grade of beef like prime, choice, select and no roll .
Prime Rib is being used as a name for the cut of a standing rib roast. There is no NY in a NY strip steak it is just a name for that cut of sirlion.

Bingo. If you get a USDA Prime "prime rib", you've got something good. I believe there are even grades within the USDA Prime classification.

Bonefish Grill is one of the better restaurants in TV. IMHO
Never had a bad meal yet!!!
Latinos Y Mas in Ocala is the best outside TV for paella and other latin dishes.
Ate there Friday night and it was awesome. :icon_hungry:
