From the meeting yesterday. Heard no addition pickleball courts in district 4 CYV's expansion off 42. No surprised more room for more housing, extra 1000 home with only 14 PB courts above 466. (This will affect you golfer's also! Heck I more than 14 holes around my neighborhood) This effects use all with more using amenities. What's next raise amentiies for less use?

Are you talking about the 300 new CYV they are building up near the VA Clinic?

I think that if they have rec centers they will have pickleball courts. What you heard is probably a rumor. Lot of them going around.

OMG!!..The Villages hospital will only have 300 total beds after this expansion.....OUCH to the ER/patient flow as it is...so much for "America's Healthiest Hometown" patient care...

Yes, the expansion will include two new "neighborhood recreation centers". Have you checked out the "official" definition of a 'Neighborhood Recreation Center'? A Neighborhood Recreation Center consists of a postal station and a family pool. It does not include a building with meeting rooms or card rooms, or other recreation facilities like pickle ball courts, bocci courts, etc. It is only a postal station and a pool!

Because of the noise factor, not all rec centers have pickleball courts.

Nope a neighborhood rec center has a a large gathering building, a family pool, pickleball courts, bocce, and shuffleboard courts and one of those little picnic shelters. A regional rec center has a sports pool and all of the above. The adult pool/mail station is another thing entirely.

AAC member and CDD 4 Supervisor Don Deakin said that Moyer, in a presentation to CDD 4 residents Tuesday at Mulberry Grove Recreation Center, indicated that The Villages is not obligated to construct recreation centers for the planned residences. However, Moyer has indicated that two recreation centers will be built by The Villages. He described the recreation centers as “a postal station and a pool.
Gary Moyer is Vice President of development for the Villages.

300 homes, not 1000 is what I read. Where did you get such a high number? I don't think you could get 1000 homes on 60 acres. As for the golf numbers, when I look at the available tee times the majority open are above 466. Seems to me it should not be a problem.

Remember when you took a tour on the village trolley and the tour guide would ask, “does anybody know what pickle ball is”? Then the tour guide would tell how great the sport is and we have it right here in The Villages.
Pickle ball is out, with the coming of the new rec centers, the tour guides will be promoting “Playing Post-office”.

Please refer to the Rec News, as you are describing a family pool/rec center sometimes referred to as Village rec centers. Neighborhood pools are adult pools for villagers and guests over 30 years of age. Neighborhood pools are located at the mail stations and usually only have bocce or shuffleboard courts.

I'd hate to think that you could possibly be wra, wra, wra, wrong, but in this case you are. There are three levels of rec centers according to Mr. Moyer. Your basic Pool and Mail Center is called a Neighborhood Rec Center. Examples would be Calumet and Springdale. The next level up is called a Village Rec Center. An example would be Chatham Rec Center. It is as you describe above. The largest is the Regional Rec Center and is like Mulberry and Laurel.
There will be an increase of 6% in the population of District 4 with no increase in Pickleball courts, Tennis courts, Bocce Courts, Shuffle Board Courts, Horseshoe courts, golf courses, meeting rooms, or picnic shelters. Now I'm pretty sure there isn't a chance for more golf up our way, but it does seem fair to expect at least a 6% increase in the other activities, especially meeting/game rooms.

neighborhood pools have one bocce, one shuffle board and one horseshoe pit. The problem with the northern neigborhoods is that they have always lacked amenities. TV didn't start putting in sufficient amenities until they crossed 466 in the tall trees and belvedere areas.

Yes, a postal station and a pool. AND, 300+ more cars plus their company and 300 golf carts to add more congestion. I would also like to know how they are getting approval from the powers that be for the water they will need. Then the 200 acres on 466A in wildwood - more water usage. Time for them to leave FL and go to another state and start another "Villages". Spread out the population and the demand on utilities - they'll still make more money than they need.

There are two area of expansion. By the VA clinic and on the other side of the Bapist church off 42. This will effect us all, even south of the mason Dixon line.
There also another 40 acres beside the VA expansion area available. I sure they be look to stuff more homes in there at some point.
On the other hand maybe it will attract more businesses on 42? Dairy queen maybe?

Names; Big, medium and little.
George, Charles and Beatrice or
Family, Neighborhood and Regional.
I bet you there will be pickleball courts, if it is a MEDIUM size rec center.
I say wait and see. They haven't cheated us yet.
I am not worried about water, if The Villages doesn't build it some crummy company will and we will be surrounded by slums in no time and failed ventures.

Was/Is there any estimate of how many of those houses would be sold to snowbirds and how many sold to permanent residents. Based on all of the complaints on this board I would doubt that any of our current residents would want to relocate to this expanded area due to the anticipated crowds and lack of amenities facilities. Each snowbird that buys a house will reduce the impact of 'people pollution' during times other than the "season" - correct?

Depends on which side of the fence your on to when to consider "people pollution"
Why would current resident relocate to higher county tax area? Maybe few tax indoctrinated NE'ers? But, most try escape high taxation.

I thought the area north of 466 is now governed under the Community Development form of government and no longer under the control of the developer. How is it that the developer can add more land to an area that
he doesn't own anymore? I would think in order to have this land included
it would need to be annexed into The Villages CD and be voted on. Perhaps
the IRS claim that the developer is in control isn't so far fetched after all.

In part it was said in the April 2015 POA Bulletin.......
Gary Moyer, The Villages Vice-President and Director of Development, said there are numerous details yet to be worked out and that The Villages will be working with CDD4 and Marion County in the future on the planning
for these new parcels.
When queried by an audience member, both Mr. Moyer and Mr. Roy acknowledged that the proposed 300 new units would be the
Ones permitted in the lawsuit settlement agreement. Thus, having reached the 300 limit, any additional new amenity contracts in the VCCDD territory would have to be approved by the Amenity Authority Committee (AAC) SNIP.......

Perhaps you should attend the CDD information meeting you urge others to attend. If so, you would be aware that Florida law requires that eventually the governance of the CDD must be turned over to the residents by way of election of a board of members. This doesn't apply to a non residential CDD (Villages commercial districts)so the landowner (developer) will continue to appoint the board for those areas.
Just some facts, not an opinion.

All that "danged" lawsuit did was give your neighbors north of 466 the ability to maintain their amenity facilities in the same manner that you enjoy in your premier section of the villages.
Did you ever drive on the cart paths along Buena Vista that wre like riding on a railroad track, or go to Paradise rec center where there was a mold problem? Do you not think your neighbors north of 466 deserve the benefits you enjoy for their amenity fees?
The only power it gave the residents was to improve the amenity facilities north of 466 for "all" villages to enjoy.

Thanks for the explanation TVMayor. My understanding when I moved to TV's was each District Government is supposed to be run by a Board of Supervisors under Chapter 190 of the Florida Statutes. How is it the Amenity Authority Committee is now in control of such an important decision that affects all the residents? Where there is the will there is a way to circumvent the power of the people!

I apologize if I am misunderstanding terms here but I thought it was "Village" centers that had a gathering building et al. There would be some other activities but on a small scale. Once again, this would be Gilchrist or Hillsborough for me.

Pools and mailboxes aside, I'm really more concerned about a couple of other things, like where and how these new "Villages of Villas" will connect to the existing streets for access. I know there will be entrance gates for both off of 42, but where and how will they connect inside the Villages?
Unlike Gracie, I proudly live N of 466 and choose this area because of the look of the mature tree's and well kept homes. They are now planning to drop in 300 brand new stucco courtyard villas that will lessen, I believe, the appeal and aesthetics of living "up north" in The Villages.

It has been stated by The Developer that access will be:
- eastern part: SR 42 for vehicular traffic (although I have also read reference to using Mulberry Ln past the VA Clinic). As for golf carts, I am unclear on that, but looking at maps it will either have to be via Mulberry Ln or come in the back side of the Va to Mayfield Pl.
- western part: SR 42, only for vehicular traffic and via Clearview Ave for golf carts.

I live in The Haciendas of Mission Hills and we have a "neighborhood rec center". It is a postal station, a swimming pool, one bocce court, one shuffleboard, and one horseshoe pit. There is no freestanding building except the restroom for the pool and a storage area. The new villas, Antrim Dells and Aden have similar neighborhood rec centers.
