Maybe I missed any discussion on this, but.... what happened to the webcam at Sumter? It's been down for a while. Anyone know why?

Not a picture of SUMTER but of Spanish Springs on both pages.
The rumor from the aerobics pool is that it was struck by lightening.
The morning show weatherman said that their weather station at Spanish Springs was struck by lightening

The LSL camera was working yesterday for a few hours in the afternoon. It is, once again, not working. I also heard the lightning story from a friend who works in the LSL sales center.

Any electronic equipment out in the elements of FL should have professionally installed commercial lightning arrestors. With the down time of the LSL camera, I'm sure glad it's not for security purposes and apparently the maintenance staff feel cameras are cheaper that lightning arrestors :dontknow:

I think the picture looks a lot clearer. Maybe they put in a new camera.

Would someone please give me an updated address for the web cam at LSL?

The one I had keeps putting me at The Villages main page, not the web cam.

Thanks.

ejp52 I got Yahoo.com when I clicked on your link. I tried it and got the same.

Go TO the WWW.THEVILLAGES.COM

Then under LIFESTYLE scroll down to TOWNSQUARES

Click on TOWNSQUARES and once screen changes look to left side under nightly entertainment and you'll see Spanish Springs and Lake Sumter.

You may have to click on Spanish Springs first to set this web site in motion.

Once the next screen pops up look under the picture and you should see Live Web Cam

Good Luck

The time on the LSL webcam is correct. But the Spanish Springs time is about an hour behind.

If you go to the Virginia Trace site, you can go straight to the LSL camera.
I also got yahoo when I tried it from thevillages.com

Does anyone know why the SS webcam keeps changing its orientation. Sometimes it looks East towards Ruby Tuesdays, sometimes west right onto the SS Town Square, and sometimes NW sort of towards Church on the Square. Once I even saw it aimed at the intersection in front of Margaurita Republic. Anyone know why it keeps changing. It seems to get reset to the SS Town Square every evening.

The IT people like to play around. I wish they would leave the camera pointed East toward Ruby Tuesdays on the third Sat of the month when they have the cruise-in. This would really show the out of towner's what is going on in TV.

I sat at my desk at work one day during lunch and they were moving it all around. Fun to watch. Zoomed in on a couple of nice babes. I would like to see them add the option to allow users to control the camera for a minute or two. This can be done and a number of ski area web cams are set up that way.
