View Full Version : How do I get rid of a computer monitor?
I've just moved into The Villages and the owner of the house we bought has left a computer monitor and lawnmower and some furniture that we don't want or need. How do I go about getting rid of this stuff and can it be done without having to pay for a hauler? I've heard if you leave it out on trash day, it will be picked up but I wonder if they'd pick up stuff like that.... Any suggestions are welcomed!

If is functional, just post it here as a come and get it free-bee. During my early morning walks I've seen them as well as tv sets and gas grills out with the trash and all sorts of other things that most folks wouldn't think to dispose of in the garbage.

Just put it out with your garbage. They pick up almost anything. I put mine out a while back and they took it.

There's a nice, easy, FREE re-cycling center about 1/2 mile south of CR 466 on Rolling Acres Road that's open on Tuesdays and Saturdays. It's very well-organized and they have a well-marked dumpster for all electronics, including computers and monitors. Just drive in and dump it in the dumpster. They also take cardboard, paper, bottles, yard waste, tires, furniture, etc.
Turn south on Rolling Acres Road and go south about 1/2 mile. The entrance drive to the facility is not terribly well-marked, but it is opposite a road named "Little Dirt Road".
Thanks for your suggestions! I'll try putting the stuff out on the curb and if that doesn't work, I'll bring it to that free recycling place.
I appreciate your help, folks! ;D

Would this happen to be a Dell monitor? Even if not, I might be interested in it as I had to leave mine up in PA... Let me know... Thanks!

According to a Vill. newspaper article a couple months ago, conations of used computer systems will be refurbished and donated to schools and disadvantaged children.
Donations may be brought to La Hacienda or Lake Miona rec. ctrs on Fridays from 1 to 3 pm.
You may want to check and see if this is also available during the summer months at that location being used by the Vill. Computer Club.

Another alternative is freecycle.org. The goal is to keep things that can be reused from filling up our landfills. There is always someone who can use used furniture and the like. Simply join, do a post of exactly what you're getting rid of and it will be taken in no time flat.
