the roads are tore up, I do think that at this moment they are concentrating on widening 468, but you can clearly see the exit is coming...

Last I heard it was pushed back "years" due to funding and changes in priority of projects....but as with all things government....who knows.
I don't think it is going to be an exit now, just a new bridge. I think there will be an exit in the future. I think they have decided to fund a redo of the intersection/exit at 75 with 301.

Still shows as a 'Future Project' by FDOT

I agree with the previous posters that the interchange construction was delayed to make improvements at the Hwy 301 interchange. Then The Daily Sun states in in the first paragraph of an article on page C4 of today's paper "Sumter County commissioners have agreed to take ownership of two parcels of land needed for an interchange under construction at County Road 468 and Florida's Turnpike." Color added for emphasis. Does anyone know if they are truly building the interchange now or just building a new overpass for CR468?

I suspect that the sudden forward momentum on the new interchange is a message to the folks in Wildwood. The Villages had agreed to wait to build the new interchange so that the money could be used for improvements to the Wildwood/301 interchange. After Wildwood's response to 466A land development, I suspect that the gloves are off in building the new interchange and diverting potential 301 traffic.
Of course, I could be wrong. I found the total lack of comment about future development more telling than anything actually said last night. I will say that Morse family plans their cards really close to their vest. I also think that the leaders in Wildwood are trying to play well above their heads.

Interesting thought.

Great thinking. I suspect the same thing. The anti for Wildwood has been raised considerably.

Work is proceeding for Turnpike interchange at 468 - Orlando bound (to/from) only at this time. Funding for north bound to Hwy 75 was delayed about 6 months ago.
Progress includes concrete pillars on both sides of Turnpike to support interchange and widening of 468 bridge. My guess is that completion is about a year away.

My guess is that we can't even imagine what is in "the hopper" south of 44 for the future of The Villages. Let it happen!

if they've gone back to the big box store shopping mall on the land adjacent to brownwood, this would provide the kind of access these stores would require....and we don't want buses to clog up the parking (couldn't resist)

Not sure about the routing but I saw an Airport shuttle coming Northbound up 468 one day this week. Don't know where he was coming FROM!

The Shuttle was probably taking an alternate route instead of the Hwy 301 exit. When coming from Orlando, get off at exit 296 and head west on County Rd 470. Turn right on County Rd 501. At tee, turn right onto 468 and cross over Turnpike heading toward Morse Ave.

You have to wonder why The Villages volunteered to pay for the interchange and why Brownwood was built right on Rte 44. In my mind Brownwood would have been more convenient built around 466A. Something's to think about.
