Yesterday arrived with a group of 11 for lunch. When we were seated, waitress informed us that the kitchen had a issue and food would be slower than normal. 10 minutes to get our drink orders in and food ordered. we then waited for 50 minutes - no drink refills, no explanation from the staff.
I asked to speak with the manager to see when our meals would be served. The manager came over as the meals came out of the kitchen and commented "does this answer your question?"
Is this your attitude? No apology, no offer to comp our sodas? Do you realize the seasonal business is over?
My answer to this manager is you will not see this group back anytime soon!

I hate really this for many reasons. One is EP is the place we go whenever we have relatives in town. I have a very small family so we usually have four or five people only in our group. There has never been a complaint except when they took the Mexican salad off the menu. Cross fingers our good luck continues.

We have eaten at Evans Prairie on many occasions and we would put our satisfaction level in the 90's to this date. If we were warned ahead of time that service was going to be slower than normal we would decide if we wanted to stick it out or not. Having decided to stay would then preclude us from complaing about the slow service. To top that off the group felt the drinks should be comped. Who is being fair here?

Why do people always expect things to be comped ? If I was told slow service I would decide whether I wanted to wait or go somewhere else.

That is so true. People expect to be comped for everything, but it is the way things are now. We own a business and sometimes one just wants to show good will to a customer if things don't go well. On the other hand I would never have given a comment to the customer as the manager did.

My husband and I have been to EP several times because we enjoy the food. But I have to say we've never had a good experience with the service. After our last visit we probably will not be going back, because the service was the worse we've ever had. From the minute we walked in the door we waited. No one was at the desk to seat us and the place was not that busy. Finally she came to seat us and then the waitress ask us what we wanted to drink. I asked for a black & tan beer, not the brand, but the one with half Guinness and half pilsner. She was polite and said no problem. My husband just said a Sam Adams. After at least 15 minutes, we ask someone to find our waitress. Finally the manager came by and said the delay for our drinks is because the bartender and waitress did not know how to make a Black & Tan. I then ask why the waitress did not explain this to us or why she did not bring my husband's beer. If she had, I would have ordered something else. No comment from the manager. Finally the beer came and we then ordered our dinner. Which again took forever to receive. I do not expect to a comp but I do reflect my displeasure with the tip. This is sad because we do enjoy the food.

We also have to realize just reading words here is hard to interpret. The manager said "does this answer your question?" isn't necessarily bad. Depends on the way it's said. I could see saying that with hands out and a smile. Kind of like ask and you shall receive done as a try for a little light humor.
Hard to even explain here without using my hands. LOL

I think I understand what you're saying.
Instead of saying "Here it is now", the manager said "Does this answer your question".
I think it was probably meant in a positive way.

There have been a number of posts by new posters against the restaurants operated by Fred Whats-his-name. There have been strange posts about monopoly and other negativity. Even one defending the manager who was arrested for stealing from him at Scooples. hmmmm
I have to wonder if this is from the competition or a fired employee.
Skeptical Gracie.
Have not had an issue with any of the restaurants owned by Fred. And don't know him either.

We are recently retired and are having a hard time not eating a meal in 30 seconds or less. When we go out to eat, we want to have a drink and relax. That is probably why slow service either isn't noticed or we don't care. This being said, we rarely are there more than an hour and fifteen minutes unless there is music. Is that slow? I'm relaxed and enjoying the outside seating. Aren't more exclusive restaurants notoriously slow?

Hopefully they comped you for parking.
At the least they should have given everyone the salt and pepper shakers for your "inconvenience".

LOL…..Best post of the week!
The group of the o.p. was given fair warning so they could decide to stay and wait it out (and converse while passing time together). It was the group's choice.
Wanting free drinks because of their choice that included not calling ahead for a large group coming is……not taking responsibility for their decisions.

As soon as I saw "group of 11" I knew this was going to be negative.
I was there TODAY and had great service and fantastic food. But then I expected good food and service. That is their standard at Evans Prairie as far as I have experienced.
Come on, seriously. When a group this large comes in they are trying their best to get everyone served at the same time and it isn't easy. If you "won't go back" you are only hurting yourself. Go in with a smaller group and give them a second chance. You may be pleasantly surprised.

Probably a good thing and good luck finding a place that will meet your expectations. There are plenty of other restaurants here so I'm sure you will find one.
