Stone for Landscaping

New to The Villages my husband and I are in the process of removing the old pine needles around the shrubs. Where should we go to buy stone (approx. one inch in size & a mix of white-gold-brown in color)? Our house is located in the village of Charlotte.

Dirt Cheap has a variety of stone to choose from. They will actually give you free samples if you ask. They are located near the Market of Marion on the opposite side of the street.

You might want to research your choice, I have seen many arguments against the use of stone, in the Florida heat. You should be able to do a search here, or go to the master gardeners.

Thanks for the responses thus far. My issue is an infestation of millipedes. We had the perimeter of the house treated professionally and we are still getting them inside the house. Eek - haven't slept through the night since our purchase - one week ago. From what I have read, if you take away the organic matter (pine needles or mulch) and excess moisture (use extenders on the downspouts etc), the worms will be less likely to thrive close to the slab and crawl up under the siding. That is my reasoning for stone bedding. Any advice is greatly welcomed.

Dirt Cheap in Belleview is the best for stone. I would recommend that if you have any concerns about what is permissible, contact the ARC directly. There are different rules depending on your location.
