I'm currently in my away-from-The-Villages home and not reading The Daily Sun regularly. I've heard a couple of stories that I am curious about.
1. I've been told that when there is a program being offered at the Sharon Morse Performing Arts Center, the free outdoor entertainment on the town square at Spanish Springs will be suspended.
2. I've been told that there will be valet parking at Spanish Springs with a charge of $10 for an automobile and $5 for a golf cart. It is unclear whether this is related to performances at the Sharon Morse Center or all the time.
I would appreciate any enlightenment on the subjects.

Here is the valet parking thread for your perusal, Carl. https://www.talkofthevillages.com/forums/villages-florida-general-discussion-73/valet-parking-squares-151260/

Thank you. I have read the entire thread and am still somewhat confused.
1. No one addresses the rumor that the free outdoor entertainment will be suspended when there is an event at the Morse Center.
2. The original post on the thread speaks of the plan for LSL, but much of the discussion is about Spanish Springs. Is the valet service planned for both Town Squares? What about Brownwood?
My "problem" with valet parking plans is that it generally takes a significant portion of what was previously available parking out of circulation for use by the valets.

as you stated it's a rumor. Don't dwell as there's nothing you can do about it. When you get back you'll easily find out...unless of course you'll sell your place here if your "rumor" is true...by the way....I've never been to an event where there wasn't some parking...sure you may have to walk a bit, but hey...it's good exercise eh?

Carl - I've followed this thread since it started. IMHO there are few facts presented so I am not getting in a twit over it. I hope you are doing well.

Well..............yes. There is something I can do about it. Ask for information.
Walk at bit? I'm in a wheelchair.

Then valet parking should be to your advantage. From what I know, the SS offering will be a test. I assume they will be trying to determine how many will use and if it can be a profitable venture. Since Bags, Inc is the vendor providing the services it will be their call. As I understand it, if it is successful they will expand to LSL. I doubt they will expand to Brownwood until the density improves, more commercial stores are available etc. At this point, even in the high season there is plenty of parking in Brownwood. I think the rumor on shutting down the entertainment in the square is just a rumor without basis. The Church on the Square never caused the square to close and while The Sharon seats a few more, it shouldn't have a significant impact on the square. Plus, if that happened I suspect there would be a revolt by the residents. There are no real facts released yet, and as it is a work in progress, they will change as it progresses.

Square entertainment will not be suspended. You can put that rumor to bed.

Carl is correct on residents losing parking spaces at SS and LSL when valet parking is in effect. At SS, 59 parking spaces are "given" to the valet company while at LSL it is 93. I don't know is those spaces are reserved 24 X 7 or some other hours though.
So the take away 150 parking spaces while, at the same time, stopping all tour buses from picking up/dropping off at any of our squares or rec centers. Methinks the left hand and the right hand are not communicating very well.

Actually they might be......those 150 parking spaces won't be used for parking cars of those on the day trips with the buses. Only conjecture, but if there is any basis there that means the 150 parking spaces recovered from day trippers (there's a song in there somewhere) can now be used for those that want to stay and use TV facilities. Only conjecture.

But very plausible conjecture.
They probably would stash the valeted (is that a word?) cars in the back of whatever parking lot they're using, which is where the the buses meet and bus riders park.

1. Not true.
2. True
I know that certain bus trips have been told they cannot meet at LSL for pick-up but a certain person has talked to the businesses affected and it doesn't seem to be a big problem at the moment. However, everything is subject to change if the affected squares get too crowded, with parking problems.

If the TV clubs take Janet Tutt's memo seriously, it won't matter what the businesses think. TV has effectively banned all bus pickups at squares and rec centers.
I love it when a memo starts out with "Oh, we're so glad you're here," and ends up with "By the way, we're going to make your life harder." Don't patronize people; they can see right through it. Just state your business up front, cordially.

I just love rumors. They are part of the fun of life. Except that probably half of the wars fought in this world started because of rumors.

Thanks for the responses. I now have a much better understanding of what's going on..... even if all of the facts are not yet established.
