Our House sold in 5 months. The movers packed today and we leave tomorrow from Michigan for TV to our new CYV in Hemingway.
After a Lifestyle visit last September and again the end of June we purchased then and closed July 3.
Although we haven't posted often we have been following this forum for the last year. As everyone says, resident and wannabes, everyone has provided great information to make the decision (the great, good and bad information about TV). With your help I feel we made a great informed decision. Found out every question and concern we had was answered or addressed sooner or later. Zcavemans thread was very helpful, Thanks.
We arrive on Tuesday the 22nd. As soon as the moving truck arrives the fun begins.
Looking forward to meeting as many of you as possible.

That's great news--congratulations and welcome!!! Though we are snowbirds ourselves, we go to the TOTV luncheon at Crisper's (in the Publix plaza on Route 466) each month that we are there. Come and meet new friends, some of whom are likely old friends from TOTV! While there are problems anywhere, there is so much to enjoy here, and you will not regret your decision!
Congrats, Gander!!!! We bought a CYV in Hemmingway, also. Haven't sold our MN home yet, but are planning to move down by early Sept! Have fun! Can't wait to be there, too!

Hope your homes sell. We didn't think ours would sell so quick. There is hope in todays market, we got lucky in Michigan where economy is as bad as reported. A lot of people seem to be leaving Michigan, too. We hope to be moved in by Wednesday.

:welcome: :welcome:You will love it here. We moved from Michigan to TV in late December. I wish we would have found TOTV before we moved down. A lot of questions are answered when asked and lots of friends are made. Enjoy :welcome: :welcome:
Thanks for the well wishes, Gander. Hopefully ours will sell soon - but we've decided life is too short (and being we can financially swing it), so we want to be in TV NOW. Looking forward to meeting you and everyone on TOTV.

Welcome to the "Hood". TOTV members Gracie Girl, Donna, Kathie, and myself are there or will be soon. If you see a person being towed down the street by an Irish Setter that'll be me.

Thanks for the welcome everyone.
We finally landed in TV tonight. We will get our keys and move in our stuff from the car tomorrow. Unfortunately we found out today that the movers are scheduled to deliver this Saturday, the last day of the 4 day promised window! We will either have to stay in the hotel 2-3 extra days or get a mattress and to sleep on the floor in our in our CYV. BUT we are finally here.
You're there!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Enjoy! Hope to join you soon!

Just wait til you're here in February. You'll be out at night and it can be balmy. You will laugh with delight as the sheer joy of being outside, in short sleeves ,at night rolls over you.. Not every night is warm, but overall I find the winter weather here intoxicating. I love this place!!

We are from Michigan, too....just north of Ann Arbor. Would be fun to get together sometime!
Bright, I lived in Ann Arbor for a couple of years while going to college, also ypsitucky. Hung out at the chelsey lake bar some. Learned to drink Flaming Jesus'. You ever heard of euchre? I hope I spelled that right. Benj

Hi Gander! Isn't this fun? We close next Wednesday. We will be staying at the Comfort Suites on Tuesday night. We just found out yesterday that our new beds can't be delivered until Thursday. So my DH gave me the option of one more night at Comfort Suites or "camping" in the new villa. I voted for the air mattress because I just want to be there!!

Love Euchre! Fast, easy, fun, you can talk, requires some skill.....(Don't trump my ace!)We had a Euchre group of 12 who met monthly for 18 years and so did my grandparents.(They were like family) I think any German family has it in their genes. Beer goes great with Euchre and so do high calorie snacks. Laughing and kidding is required.

My mom and I are camping in her house one night while we wait on the furniture the next day. (next Friday, I can't believe it's here already!) We are bringing pillows and blankets and decided to rough it. She'll have her dog with her and it was too stressful and costly to figure out a place close by that would take him (legally that is LOL). We decided on the money saved will go to her new facet head in her kitchen. I think it will be fun camping out, I offered to buy her a new air mattress, but she is stressing out so bad about closet space she passed on the option of a air bed. Those things are comfortable though.
Enjoy your new home! :)

Still trying to sell our house in Michigan so we can get down there and join the rest of you. Benj, we live in Plymouth (which is just east of Ypsi), but I can't say I've ever had a flaming Jesus before! And you aren't from Michigan if you haven't played euchre! We'll definitely have a large entourage from Michigan at a TOTV luncheon someday soon!!!!!
sschuler1, A flaming jesus is a tall shot glass where the bottom half is southern comfort , and the top half is cream de banana. You light the top for a couple of seconds then blow it out and drink it in one swallow. The banana goes down last and makes it like you didn't just drink hard liquor. In other words it's easy to drink. Then you just get a warm glow in your tummy. But look out , easy to drink means there could be trouble brewing. It was the local drink at the chelsey lake bar at the time. I lived in Dearborn heights, Livonia, Garden City,Canton, Ypsi and Ann Arbor. But I consider Colorado home, been here 30 years.
Best of luck on selling, I'm in the same boat here in CO. Cant wait to get to tv and play some euchre ,no one in CO knows what it is. Benj

Well the movers ( Mayflower) are finally going to be here Tuesday A.M.. 10 days later than promised and excuses and some false promises they are suppose to arrive. (Mayflower has not the last from me yet.) Thanks to Southern Lifestyles delivering our bed and a loaner sofa and some borrowed chairs we have survived. Also, thanks to Karen Madsen in Relocation for her support and added pressure. We should have the rest of our new furniture from SLS by next month.
Fortunately because Mayflower missed their promised date they had to pay us a per diem for every day late. This covered much or our most of our personal travel and living expenses. Using the TV Relocation Department got us a good rate with free insurance from the Mayflower. Anyone planning to use a moving company should be very cautious regarding their promise delivery and be prepared if late and consult with relocation if using a moving company.

Gander:
Congratulations on your arrival. As they say, nothing really worthwhile is totally easy. All the "bad stuff" will be a faded memory after you're here a few weeks. Joan and I love it here..we're into our 5th week now. My daugher visited last week and compared it to living on a cruise ship...a cruise ship experience for landlubbers.
Enjoy and welcome.
PS: The first few weeks are extremely hectic and demanding with the movie-in chores, organizing stuff, etc. etc. Take time out to enjoy. The chores will still be there when you get back from Toojay's, Pickleball, golf, etc.
