Adding windows to lanai & flood ins.

Can someone give me an idea as to the cost of putting in windows on a lanai for a Sunflower model and who you used if you were a satisfied customer. Also could someone tell me do I need flood insurance in The Villages. I will be moving in on June 1. Thanks for your help.

Funny about the flood insurance, just called about that today. I had inquired about this last year, and was told it was a good idea and was (as I recall) $140/yr. Called today, and was told $340/yr. Now I think there was a massive difference in coverage, and I know there was an increase in the NON FLOOD area coverage. You can check, but I think most of the Villages is in the NON FLOOD area.

What type of windows are you wanting? There is a large cost differece between glass and acrylic. Also could be some property tax implications with glass.

OP, I just reread your original post. Do yourself a favor, DO NOT repeat, DO NOT, rush into anything when you move here. Take your time, get use to the house and the area, etc., then and only then start to make changes. You may decide to add a birdcage, and then what do you do with the glass? You may decide that you do not want the glass.

The state recently changed the rules for enclosing lanai's and adding air conditioning, as mentioned above, there may be tax consequences, as well as additional expenses based on the news rules.
