Thank You :)

Staying within The Villages $40.00 per person, each way
Renters $40.00 per person, each way
Renter's Guests $50.00 per person, each way

I have started using the Florida Jitney . The bus leaves from Spanish Springs every 90 minutes for the airport and runs 24 hours a day if needed. They also do runs to the Orlando malls.
It is $34 each way and there are soft drinks and TV on the bus.

We rented from Enterprise from Orlando International Airport with a drop-off in LSL for a cost of $23. In the other direction, for whatever inexplicable reason, the cost would have been $53 but for our having a ride there (thanks again, Kathie and Donna!). Have to add in the cost of gas which as I recall was around $8. For two of us, the car rental made more sense.

It bothers me that no taxi services are available for the very early or late shuttle buses, too.

Thanks Travel! Didn't realize they had raised the rates but understandable.

I agree Travel.....early and late taxi would be a welcome addition to TV lifestyle. For example....so you want to go out to a restaurant but you want to have a few drinks. You do not want to drive a car or a golf cart. You want to do the "right thing" What do you do? there is no public transportation available!! I really think this is a huge flaw in the operation of TV. Can we let management know that we would love to have a way to go out, and not have to drive! What do you all think about this?

Can you please tell me if this is a bus or limo service? My husband travels frequently and TV shuttle isn't convenient because of the departure and arrival times. It seldom conicides with his itinerary.

Is this a reliable service - I never heard of it? Where is the pick up? Drop off?

Thanks

nanci -

Very reliable and transports to and from Spanish Springs Shuttle station.
It is a bus, a little smaller than The Villages shuttle, but very comfortable.

I saw an ad in the paper several months ago and tried it because of
the inconvenient times of the TV shuttle. Give them a call.

Wiw, that is invaluable information to us as Fireboy uses the Villages shuttle a lot when we're in TV. Can you also pick up the Florida Jitney at the airport to arrive in TV?

The Florida Jitney serves both Orlando and Sanford airports plus some malls. To learn more check into their website at http://www.floridajitney.com/.
It appears the Orlando service does not serve the Villages but stops at I75/484 and also I75/44 in Wildwood.
The Sanford run serves The Villages at Spanish Springs.

This website must have been set up before they expanded to service in The Villages to and from Orlando. It's a new company and evidently expanding rapidly. Suggest you call 259-2731.

I've called the Florida Jetney twice already and haven't received a response. Their website doesn't indicate they pick up and dtop off at TV for Orlando Airport.

Has anyone used them from TV to the Orlando airport with a return?

Yes, I have used Jitney to and from the Orlando airport and I have a friend who is being met by them in Orlando on August 1. I have to admit their phone is hard to catch someone - They have always returned my calls and are very accommodating when I do talk with them.

Can you tell me what the fare is for a roundtrip to Orlando airport?

$34/one way - $64/round trip

Since you mentioned you had not received a reutrn phone call from them, I talked with them this morning. They were concerned no one had returned your called. They said someone is in reservations M-F 9:00-6:00 and return calls on weekends.

I have to tell you; if this is a sample of their customer service; I hesitate to use them. I've put two messages in during the week and sent one email. I just tried to call and it's busy. I'll try again and leave one more message but I'm wondering how reliable they are if they can't return a call that I made twice last week.

I finally talked to a live person.

Tim was very nice and accommodating. He apologized and said that the business is so busy and they get something like 60 calls a day.

So, I'm going to give them a try and just booked from TV to MCO round trip.

They have three pick ups and drop offs; one in Spanish Springs. The fare is $64 round trip.

With the price of gas, they have become popular.

Nanci, I'll be very interested in your feedback. During the six months I lived in TV last winter, Fireboy (who is still working in Canada) often used the Village Shuttle Service. The Florida Jitney schedule of every 90 minutes sounds very convenient.

As a newcomer, I don't have a particular loyalty to any service as yet. I have tried to use the Village Shuttle but everytime I flew into OIA, they had already stopped running for the day. This is something I find hard to believe. Worse yet, it rendered their service to be of no use to me. Then my neighbor mentioned the Florida Jitney to me, that it was 24 hours with service leaving every ninety minutes all day long. When I last arrived at OIA, the Jitney was there waiting for me at 10:30 pm. The travel attendant welcomed me on board. It was all very nice and clean. I was offered a complimentary beverage of choice and a wide array of snacks to choose from. I settled into my seat, large and spacious and watched Cnn all the way back to TV. I didn't have the energy but a young man (probably coming to visit his parents) worked on his computer and was surfing the internet all the way. I asked and the Wifi was also free. The fare was $64 so I joined the Travel Club (free with your first trip) and have received Steals and Deals emails every week ever since. I have already taken one of their free trips to the International Outlets. It makes for not just the best travel value in town but a remarkable first rate service.

My sister and her daughter are flying in to Sanford and the Florida Jitney also has scheduled service to that airport, I think it is only $30 one way, $55 round trip. They also go to Tampa but I don't know the details.

I haven't had the phone problem mentioned above and they have been prompt and courteous on the phone but it would be a pity if this company didn't make it. I am already planning to use the service to go into the malls in Orlando, the Arts and Entertainment service they have and my nephews will take it to the attractions. Happy that I found them and I highly recommend their service.

Hi aln, After reading your posting I went on the website. The timetable for The Villages to OIA is not on line. You might be confusing one of their other routes, it looks as if their Gainesville service has more frequent stops.

I called the reservations number and was told that they are working to launch a whole new web site and actually looking for a new ad agency to execute the new changes. I was told they would like to use a member of the Computer Club for this. Then they will be lisitng all of their routes and destinations from TV. For now reservations said they will fax or email the timetable to whomever desires one. Whether they have one stop or none, they said they have a great on time record for their arrivals.

All I know is that the weekend is approaching and I'm itching for a little getaway....

Great information and critique of the service. Please keep us informed as you keep using it. We've previously had to book flights to take advantage of the Village Shuttle schedule. I'm really excited about a 24 hour service.

Hi Everyone,

We use Enterprise Rent a Car - with AARP discount the cost from the airport to TV is approximately $24 plus gas for the car. The rate to return the car to the airport is higher but I do not know the cost.

We drop the car off at the Enterprise office and they take us home. They also provide pick up service if you are renting a car to go to the airport or elsewhere.

By renting the car we do not have to wait until a shuttle van arrives. We have had no problems doing this.

Stops are only made only if previously scheduled - not on a regular basis

What a great site TOTV is!! ;D

I have printed the schedule. We are currently in the process of booking air travel for Fireboy so he can commute back and forth between TV and Canada all winter. That schedule really helps!
