We just had our lanai enclosed by CVS. We chose high performance, low E with argon glass. CVS is busy and we had to wait a long time for the installation but they did a good job and so far we are pleased. Our job was just completed yesterday.

Are you seasonal or year round? Do you plan to add ac/heat? What is the lanai's orientation when you will be using it most? We left ours screened for 4 years, love it like that when it was nice weather spring and fall, but just couldn't use it a lot in cold months some years. Finally added full-length triple-track windows, exposes about 65% of screen when open all the way, but warms up just fine on sunny cold days. I looked at vinyl, acrylic and glass. Small CYV lanai.
One contractor suggested double-pane, but the one we went with (Custom Windows & Doors) said we didn't need it. We are very happy with the look and the usability.

Thank you for your comments. Those who have used single pane, I am wondering if condensation is a problem. To the person who used e windows, I am wondering if you need to heat or cool the lanai.

We had the e windows installed by Custom windows. We then added two ducts from our A/C unit and it worked out great

We had low E glass installed. The job was just completed two days ago so it's too soon to know if we'll need any supplemental heating or cooling for the lanai. We are hoping the air from the house handles the lanai. We have no plans to do more at this time.

Golf 1240- who extended your a/c ducts & what model house do you have?

If you simply "add ducts" make sure the heat load/ ac capacity" are both accurately calculated. some homes are using all of their existing a/c capacity without adding an enclosed lanai.
