This is one of my button pushers. I have been a member of or subscribed to "x" for 20 years. Instead of thanking me for my loyalty with a savings, you give the deal to the new customer. I get nothing. Glad I got that out of my system.

gave up on our local Sams club a few years back when they lied to us a couple of times about our prescriptions and 3 month refills. They made more on monthly refills and said they couldn't do the 3 month by federal law on one med. Found out it was a health insurance rule, not fed rule, we always paid for meds ourself, no insurance. So they lost a good full time custormer. cvs gives us 3 month refills for a much better price.

I have been a member of Sams Club for years---yearly rate has been $45 for several years---food and gift card are the incentives to join if you were on the fence :}

We just got back from Sam's with the certificate and got our cards, and the comp chicken and salsa - decided to forego the 8 free cupcakes till company comes over. Used the $20 gift card to pay a portion of other stuff we got - one thing was very nice slab of fresh salmon for $7.99 lb.
Sorry VJ re the freebees for the newbees on deals as this... I know how it is - pet peeve of mine too - banks, credit card co.s, cable etc etc. Many simply don't care much even with new customer acquisition relatively costly for companies. With some, you can push their buttons upon renewal (even threaten to quit them) and get better rates and such. I'd bet Sam's is take it/leave it.
We thought we'd give them a try for the year and see the worth for us. So far... that rotisserie chicken sure smells good. For $4.99 and the size of the bird=must be a loss leader for them.

Borderline harrassment my friend. Thanks for sharing the information on the chicken. My mouth is watering. :beer3:

If you're a coupon user, regular membership cannot use coupons but for plus members Sam's Club will accept coupons.

Sam's also has a military special this month for active duty, vets and spouses. Join or renew and get a $15 gift card, free chicken, free mac & cheese and free cookies. I signed up for the Groupon deal since I wasn't a Sam's member but this is a great deal if you are a vet and want to renew membership. You have until the end of July to actually redeem this offer (but must purchase this month).

A year after signing up, you will be automatically renewed for the current "Plus" membership (It's $100 now).
We have the Plus card, and happy to say, it has several advantages over the regular membership.

Unless it's changed the Plus runs $100 per year. Regular membership is $45. I upgraded to Plus for a couple of years but didn't feel it benefitted me so I called and requested to go back to regular membership and they did so with no problem. They refunded me the difference promptly!

The comp rotisserie chicken for signing up - yikes. Made 5 meals for us both here.
First was 1/2 of the full breast and some dark meat sliced along with veggies made here. Cut up the rest of the bird into smaller pieces. Then cooked the bones and such in water to make a nice rich broth. 1/2 was made into chicken soup with rice and lots of veggies for day two (4 bowls, 2 are in freezer). Next day was pot pie day. Rest of the chicken pieces with lots of veggies incl peas in a thickened natural broth made earlier. Made 4 single serve crocks - used Pillsbury crescent roll dough to cover each as a light crust. Baked and viola = yummo. We still have 2 bowls of soup and 2 pot pies in the freezer. We = chickened out.
Not bad for a free chicken. But next time (next trip to Sam's) it's on us. Still = such a deal.
